Minecraft’s successor, Minecraft Dungeons, is a classic dungeon-crawler set in the base game’s universe. Many aspects of these games are similar, from the simple, blocky aesthetic to specific items and mobs being pulled directly from Minecraft. Although there are direct similarities between the two gaming giants, Minecraft Dungeons is home to many brand-new features. The ‘Echoing Void’ DLC implemented many interesting and thought-provoking additions to the game. With theories on the rise of an End Update coming in Minecraft 1.22, fans have pointed to ‘Echoing Void’ as a guideline for how an End Update could go.
Minecraft Dungeons: Echoing Void DLC Summary
‘Echoing Void’ is a DLC that takes place in the End dimension. The End in Minecraft is a barren, moon-like wasteland. In this DLC, however, much creative liberty was taken to buff up the End and make it miles more interesting. In this expansion, the stronghold and subsequently the End is added. The End received a massive overhaul in this DLC with new blocks, structures, and mobs. One of which, the Endersent, is particularly interesting and will be touched on more later. Some of the new End features include purple bridges between islands, void liquid, and a large circular structure.
Enderlings, variants of the typical Enderman, can be found within these lands. These Enderlings are subspecies of Endermen and use teleportation to their advantage. This group of creatures includes the Blastling, Snareling, and the Watchling. The Blastling is a large, brutish Enderman with a fiery purple head and fists. This Enderling is attributed to being the strongest out of the three, as it throws volatile purple goop at its target. The Snareling lobs yellow goop at its enemy to trap and slow them down. Finally, the Watchling is an Enderman covered in eyes with slightly thicker arms. This mob teleports behind the player to attack them.
Minecraft’s End Update Is Highly Anticipated
One of the base Minecraft’s highest-requested implementations would be an update to the End. Like in Minecraft Dungeons, the End is a separate dimension in Minecraft. It hosts the final boss, the Ender Dragon, and it is where you can find End Cities, Shulkers, and the Elytra. The last substantial update to this dimension was nearly 10 years ago in Update 1.9 ‘The Combat Update’. Currently, it is the most barren landscape in the game. Many players and content creators speculate about the potential features of an End update and when it would be released. Mojang has been dropping hints left and right that an End Update will be coming to the game soon.
How ‘The End Update’ Would Look In-game
Fans have been theorizing that the ‘Echoing Voids’ DLC may be the blueprint for an upcoming End Update. This theory has been reinforced with the addition of an Endersent growl in Minecraft’s Disc 5. The Endersent is a mob from Minecraft Dungeons that sports extremely powerful attacks and magic. This mob protects an Eye of Ender that is strapped to its chest. Six Endersent varieties exist in the game. Discussions are hot within the community with the rise of hints and teasers coming from Mojang that imply an End Update will be coming soon. Perhaps players will see the Endersent and upgraded End Islands in Minecraft soon.
