Monster Hunter Mobile Game’s Massive Progress Exceeding 15 Million Downloads

Monster Hunter Now is the latest installment into one of Capcom’s biggest franchises in the form of a mobile game that is available to play for both Android and iOS phones. It is categorized as an augmented reality and location-based mobile game developed by Niantic Labs and Capcom, and published by the former. The game showcases gameplay features that share similarities with one of the franchise’s 5th generation titles such as Monster Hunter World and also shares the augmented reality and location-based experience that Pokemon GO cherishes.

On top of that, the game has been making massive amounts of impact on the franchise by achieving an incredible milestone of reaching 15 million downloads, in addition to bringing forth the arrival of some exciting and ground-stomping major updates and in-game events that will shake up the hunting grounds and make it more fun for mobile gamers.

Breaking Down the Monster Hunter Experience

The ground-breaking hunting experience is a wild and fun adventure, especially when played at any location which can include your home, outside in town, at a restaurant, or the park. You can enjoy the thrill of hunting monsters that appear around, collecting their materials after the hunt, and crafting weapons and armor using the materials gathered.

The hunts would get tougher the more you “progress”, as in, you complete a quest then you gain experience and eventually you’ll level up and gain a hunter rank once you’ve acquired enough experience. The higher the rank you have, the more difficult the monsters will become, from tier 1 up to tier 5 and beyond. Of course, the thrill of the hunt doesn’t end from there.

Niantic Labs first announced the mobile game back in April 2023 and was set for release in September 2023. Upon first glimpse of screenshots and its announcement trailer, it possesses the same realistic vibe of the augmented reality that Pokemon GO has, where the monsters encountered appear in the same environment that the person is in, like a video game interacting with the real world.

Monster Hunter: Celebrating Its Massive Achievement

Seven months have passed since the game’s release and it has already made the biggest achievement of reaching 15 million downloads, massively increasing the number of hunters, or regularly speaking, players. This is a huge milestone for the franchise and it was so huge that Capcom and Niantic Labs have prepared a special, but limited-time gift for players to enjoy.

What is that special gift? Some resourceful items to use during a hunter’s journey. One of the items included is a special ticket called a Hunt-a-Thon ticket. These are usable at many targeted spots with a vortex-like mark around them in the environment where the player is located and are used to participate in a gauntlet of five monsters from tier 3 and above. Other items included are healing items such as potions for recovery purposes.

Providing an Eventful Experience

With the release and continuously outstanding performance of the mobile game, comes with title updates and in-game events that’ll unleash additional fun hunting opportunities. Events are announced and available now and then that pertain to new monster releases or anything related to the overall franchise or the game itself, for example: the 15 million download achievement.

There is currently a new Deviljho event that allows hunters to locate and hunt the monster, along with other new quests available. As far as events go, there may be more coming in the current year of 2024 that players will forward to. So far with the progression of the mobile game, Capcom and Niantic Labs have provided a highly fun experience with this creation.
