Monster Hunter Outlanders: Everything Known About The New Game So Far

Monster Hunter Outlanders

Monster Hunter fans are in a state of shock after a surprise announcement regarding a new mobile game set within the series. After a brief glimpse at the new Monster Hunter Outlanders, hunters around the world are scrambling to find any information they can about the game. That includes myself since I am a big fan of the series. The promotional art, snippets of gameplay footage, and a short trailer leave future players with a crucial question. Just what will the game made from a partnership between TiMi Studio Group and Capcom be like?

Gameplay

According to the announcement of the game, Monster Hunter Outlanders will be a free-to-play open-world survival experience fit for multiplayer gameplay. It will be a combination of traditional hunting that players are used to and a set of unique mechanics within the game. This includes the method hunters will use to travel long distances. Unlike Rise and Wilds, players won’t rely on an animal companion to help them travel across the locales in the game. Instead, players will be able to use a glider similar to the one found in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

New Companions

Speaking of animal companions, the mobile game will introduce two new ones. Along with a trusty Palico, players will be able to hunt and travel alongside a monkey and a bird companion. In the short time since the first trailer for Outlanders was released, a few snippets showing off the new companions have been released. The monkey, while wearing armor, has been shown to set up a cannon that can shoot a Rathian out of the sky. Meanwhile, the bird was shown swooping down to provide what seems to be a music-based buff for a hunter. While unconfirmed, the bird seemed to be completely player-controlled at that moment.

A Possible New Threat

Also seen in one of these gameplay clips is a Rathian who doesn’t seem to be doing so well. In the video, she is covered in clouds of purple mist. It’s possible that the Queen of the Land could be suffering from Hellfireblight, which was introduced in Rise thanks to Magnamalo. However, in the video, Rathian is seen using this purple mist to power up her fire breath. Either Hellfire is being revamped for Outlanders, or this is something entirely new altogether. In either case, fans are excited to learn more.

Monster Roster

As confirmed by a never-before-seen armor set and a question on the official survey for the game, there will be new monsters appearing in Outlanders. No monster has been fully revealed for the game just yet, but that knowledge has brought excitement and wonder to future players of the game. However, plenty of returning monsters have been confirmed thanks to the trailer and official renders of armor sets that will be in the game. The current list includes series staples and monsters introduced in Monster Hunter World.

When To Expect More News

Since the announcement of Monster Hunter Outlanders is fresh, not much is truly known about the game. Just like with Wilds, this new mobile experience is shrouded in mystery. What we do know is that it has new monsters, fresh features, and a fresh take on a mobile Monster Hunter experience. While there is no confirmed release date yet, the website for the game says it is coming soon. Players can also go to the site to sign up to potentially play the game early after taking a brief survey. One thing that is certain about Outlanders is that it’s yet another experience that hunters are hyped for.
