With the Monster Hunter Wilds showcase came even more reveals that have excited future players. This includes several monster reveals, both new and returning ones. This has led to hype building even more for Capcom’s upcoming game. Here’s all that we currently know about these reveals, including the new locale in which some of these monsters reside.
The New Monsters on the Roster
Hirabami
According to the official website for Monster Hunter Wilds, Hirabami is another new leviathan added to the roster. This monster lives in the Iceshard Cliffs, the fourth revealed locale that players will get to explore. The membrane on its neck allows it to catch wind and float, making it an agile foe. As seen in the new trailer, Hirabami may be yet another monster that makes use of Wilds‘ new pack-hunting feature. Out of all the leviathans that have been introduced in the series, this new one is definitely one of the most unique ones.
An Unnamed Giant
A giant unnamed monster was also revealed to live in the Iceshard Cliffs. Only appearing in the trailer for just a few moments, it towers over the other monsters on screen. It also is obviously a monster that uses the ice element because of the giant ice beam it unleashes at the ground. Already, future Monster Hunter Wilds players are speculating that the monster is the apex of the locale. This would make sense given its size and power. In that case, it would join Rey Dau, Uth Duna, and Nu Udra as the big baddies of the game.
Familiar Faces in Monster Hunter Wilds
Nerscylla
People afraid of spiders have yet another monster to fear in Monster Hunter Wilds. Nerscylla is officially returning to the series, and it looks creepier than ever. The temnoceran is known for wearing the hides of monsters, particularly Gypceros. The two monsters are actually seen fighting in the trailer with Gypceros using its flash against Nerscylla while trapped in a cocoon. Nerscylla’s last mainline appearance was in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.
Gore Magala
Gore Magala is a fan-favorite monster in the series, and many players are excited about its return in Wilds. The “???” monster was seen quite recently in the mainline games, making a stunning appearance in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. It’s best known for letting out a pathogen called the Frenzy Virus, which both hunters and monsters can suffer from. Chaotic Gore Magala and Shagaru Magala, the latter of which is the adult version of the monster, do the same thing. Despite how recent its last appearance was, players are already delighted to see the Stalking Shadow once again.
The Hype Continues to Build
With the return of two more beloved monsters confirmed and some new faces shown off, the hype for Monster Hunter Wilds continues to build. Thankfully, players around the world won’t have to wait long. The game is set to release on February 28 with two Open Beta Test periods taking place this month. This means that hunters will get the chance to partially satisfy their hunger before the big day arrives. I know I’ll be playing the Open Beta and full game any chance I get in the foreseeable future, even if I fall to terrifying creatures still yet to be seen.
