Monster Hunter Wilds: All 6 Confirmed Monsters So Far

Monster Hunter Wilds

As 2025 slowly approaches, fans and future players of Monster Hunter Wilds are eager to get their hands on the game. A large part of that desire involves having the chance to take on new and returning monsters during action-packed hunts. Since the game was first announced back in 2023, only 6 large monsters have been confirmed to be in it. And so far, most of them are entirely new. Here’s a bit about each monster confirmed to be on the roster.

Rathalos

Starting off with the only current returning monster, Rathalos is unsurprisingly taking up a slot. The King of the Skies hasn’t missed a title since it was introduced along with Rathian in the first game in the series. In the very first trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, the fire-breathing Flying Wyvern was seen soaring through the sky at the very end. It came as no shock since it’s become a common belief that there’s no Monster Hunter game without the series’ most iconic monster.

Doshaguma

The big, fluffy, and aggressive Doshaguma has been seen in several trailers, recorded demos, and weapon showcases for Monster Hunter Wilds. It travels in packs throughout the Windward Plains, and the leaders of those packs are larger and have a slightly different coloration. This Fanged Beast is quite territorial and is even more dangerous if a hunter tries to take on a full pack of them alone. The best method of taking one down is to separate it from the rest of the pack.

Chatacabra

Chatacabara is the latest member of the Amphibian classification of monsters, which only had seven members before its addition. This colorful monster inhabits the Windward Plains and seems to prefer a solitary life. Its main attacks involve its large tongue, which it uses to coat its arms in sticky saliva. That saliva is then used to make rocks and other debris stick to its forearms, boosting the power of its attacks.

Balahara in Monster Hunter Wilds

Balahara is another monster that travels in packs within the desert regions of the Windward Plains. Members of the species use their slim and scaley bodies to swim through the sand. The Leviathans use this skill to create large sand traps to drag down their prey and unsuspecting hunters. Just like Doshaguma, it’s best to try to separate one Balahara from the pack to make hunting them down a bit easier.

Rey Dau

The big, bad apex predator of the Windward Plains was recently fully revealed during a trailer at Gamescom 2024. This Flying Wyvern rules as a lightning-wielding monster that uses its entire golden body as a weapon. What makes the beast so dangerous is how it has adapted to the Sandtide, a type of violent weather pattern in the locale. In fact, it’s now so associated with the storm that it’s most likely to appear during one. Many believed Rey Dau to be the flagship of Monster Hunter Wilds, but producer Ryōzō Tsujimoto confirmed this wasn’t the case during PAX West 2024.

Lala Barina

The creepy and beautiful Lala Barina was shown off in the same Monster Hunter Wilds trailer as Rey Dau. It resides in the recently revealed locale called the Scarlet Forest. This Temnoceran weaves an intricate and giant web to catch its prey. When it’s threatened, it can open its own thorax, making it resemble a beautiful but deadly rose that’s in peak bloom.

Conclusion

While there are only 6 confirmed monsters on the roster so far, fans are speculating the return of others. Congalala is heavily assumed to be in the game given that one of the shown armor sets heavily resembles Conga armor. Rathian is presumed to be in the game as well since, just like Rathalos, she has never missed out on a game in the series. The Queen of the Land is likely to not break her streak for Monster Hunter Wilds. And with events like the T0kyo Game Show and Paris Games Week ahead, it’s untelling when we will get a glimpse at another new or returning monster. The world will just have to wait and see.
