Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest in the Monster Hunter franchise of adventure video games, is making Capcom proud. Just a month after its release, the game sold 10 million copies, and that number is only bound to rise. As is, Monster Hunter Wilds has broken Capcom’s first-month sales record with fans excited about what the game offers. Yuya Tokuda, the game’s director, lets players know where the game is headed moving forward.
In honor of the record breaking sales, Tokuda is giving away a free item pack to all users in the game. Who doesn’t like free stuff? He also acknowledges the feedback and suggestions that players have been providing the team and states that many of the upcoming plans were made with that feedback in mind. It is an exciting time for Monster Hunter, and fans can breathe a sigh of relief that their voices are being heard.
Tokuda Briefs Players on Monster Hunter Wilds Plan
First, Tokuda lets fans know that the first Title update for the game will be released, for free, on April 4th. This update will come with various changes, including the addition of monsters, a Grand Hub where multiplayer hunters can gather, and new arena quests. The update should also have various bug fixes and other minor changes. The update should provide a challenge for players as new monsters make the cut. Tempered Mizutsune, High Rank Zoh-Shia, and Arch-Tempered monsters are among the new additions. The first Arch-Tempered monster will appear in a quest on April 30th.
In May, there will be a second scheduled update that also features new challenges for Monster Hunter Wilds players. More Tempered Monsters will be added, as well as “apex preditors” for each of the four settings. Each of these predators will have secret stat changes, including health boosts, wound resistance, and scaling. In addition, another free Title Update is due out in the summer, and sporatically in the future as well.
Tokuda then goes on to address some of the feedback regarding Monster Hunter Wilds‘ aesthetics and performance. Balance with weapons has been an issue in the game, which is being addressed. It appears the hammer will be nerfed, but other weapons will be boosted to balance that out. Similarly, the Corrupted Mantel will also get adjusted down to allow for more unique playstyles and balance. Quality of life improvements will also take place moving forward, including camera adjustments and easier access to needed information.
Aesthetically, some of the uglier weapons will be addressed as well. Players have been complaining that the Artian weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds are hideous to play with, regardless of their power. It seems now players will be provided other options in the future, as layered weapons will be added to the game at some point. This could be as a DLC as they were in Worlds and Rise, but hopefully, they could be part of a free title update.
Finally, perhaps the biggest update is the improvement to PC gamer performance on Steam. Tokuda acknowledges the stability issues and says, “Improvements coming very soon include a reduction in VRAM usage and an upgrade to the DirectStorage version of the Steam version in Free Title Update 1. These should result in an overall improvement in stability for our PC players”. He goes on to acknowledge they will monitor additionally stability issues and optimisation, and address them as they can in the future.
Final Thoughts
We will have to wait and see how the updates play out. Tokuda also says that other plans are in the works, such as a list of endemic life you have captured. He teases additional, yet announced, updates and collaborations, one of which is coming at the end of May. Monster Hunter Wilds players have a lot to look forward to with the game, it seems, and it is clear the development team is not content with the sales numbers alone. They want to provide a fantastic experience for all players, and these updates appear to be headed in a great direction.
