CAPCOM debuted yet another Monster Hunter Wilds trailer at this year’s Summer Game Fest. While it was shorter than the one released just a week before, it still gave fans around the world an even bigger sense of excitement for the upcoming game. Along with showing us more of the fully-voiced characters, we got to see two brand-new monsters that are being added to the roster. One of which might be quite important to the story. It’s time to take a look at those new monsters as well as the date for the next Monster Hunter Wilds trailer.
Introducing Balahara the Desert Leviathan
In the new trailer, we were formally introduced to the desert-lurking leviathan known as Balahara. We caught a brief glimpse of this horrific yet magnificent creature in the previous one, and some of the most devoted Monster Hunter fans went frame-by-frame to understand what it could look like. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait too long since we got a look at its body and some of the attacks this creature has in its arsenal.
Balahara uses its serpent-like form to easily travel through the sand while it rotates its scaly body like a drill. It also uses those skills to summon quicksand traps to capture unexpecting prey for it to devour. Yes, that includes hunters who aren’t keeping an eye on the ground. In the trailer, we see it projectile spit a substance that resembles tar. If it’s like the spit attack from Jyruatodus, it might inflict waterblight, an inconvenience to have while on your adventures.
Possible Flagship Spotted
The second of the new monsters featured in this Monster Hunter Wilds trailer is quite the mysterious one. It could very well possibly be the flagship monster of this title. That stems from Ryozo Tsujimoto emphasizing the importance of the monster. Footage we’ve previously seen also adds to that theory considering lightning seems to play a large role in the Forbidden Lands.
While the monster is on the screen for only 4 seconds, we are able to see some of its shocking abilities. It will be able to charge up to deliver powerful lightning attacks that are sure to pack a punch. Its abilities cause its body to morph as spike-like appendages extend from its neck. Using its abilities also makes certain parts of its body like its tail and the spikes along its back glow intensely just like the lightning it attacks with. We don’t know the name of this monster quite yet, but I can guarantee fans of this action RPG can’t wait to learn more.
When We’ll See Even More

We might not have to wait for more information about that mysterious new monster though. During the presentation during Summer Game Fest, it was announced that the next trailer will premiere during opening night at Gamescom in Germany. That’s August 21, so that means the new trailer 6 weeks away. Also happening on that day is the first public demo of the game. Perhaps we’ll see a bit of the confirmed crossplay.
What I’m holding out hope for is a proper release date. All that’s set in stone right now is that it will be releasing in 2025. However, it’s my belief that if the game is ready for a demo in late August, the official reveal of the release day might be ready as well. There’s always a chance we will see another new monster as well.
