Mortal Kombat 1: Search For Hidden Pink Ninja Begins

Mortal Kombat 1 hints at pink ninja, Floyd

Mortal Kombat 1 fans have been anticipating the release of the latest DLC. Kombat Pack 2 is set to be released tomorrow with Conan the Barbarian, Ghostface of the Scream franchise, and T-1000 from Terminator 2. In the past few installments of the series, horror movie icons have made appearances, to fans’ delight. However, longtime players are more excited about a possible secret character. According to one YouTuber, a pink ninja named “Floyd” could be lurking for players to find.

Mortal Kombat 1: Origins Of Pink Ninja

A few years ago, co-creator of the game Ed Boon was asked what character he would like to add to the game. He said he wanted to add a pink ninja whose name would be “Floyd” at some point. This is a nod, of course, to Pink Floyd, the ten-time multi-platinum rock band. It wouldn’t be the first time the creators of the game put a nod to classic rock in the game. The character Rain is a nod to the Jimi Hendrix hit “Purple Rain.”

The rumor of his appearance in the game started to pick up steam when players found some references to him in the code. It wouldn’t be the first time code hunters started a rumor. Players often try to interpret the code to figure out what is coming, and sometimes they miss. However, there is now some more evidence pointing toward Floyd making his debut appearance. Ahead of the release, gaming YouTuber Super was able to get a first look at the expansion and noticed something funny pop up during a victory animation.

The Evidence

Super showed off a mirror match of Conan the Barbarian. He was hoping to create a video for his followers to showcase the moves of the new character. Instead, he may have stumbled upon one of the biggest easter eggs in Mortal Kombat 1. During the victory animation, he noticed the name “Floyd” briefly popped up in pink letters, and a familiar guitar rift was heard as well. More people have tested it, and it seems to pop up randomly.

Some fans wonder whether it will be a hidden boss battle, while others believe it is simply a way to create buzz around the game. It certainly has worked. Many fans online are excited to get their hands on the DLC and poke around the game for the pink ninja. The evidence is mounting. At this point, this would be a pretty big deception by the creators. More than likely, the creators have stuck the highly-anticipated character in the game. It remains to be seen whether he will be released with this DLC or with a future patch.

Final Thoughts

Mortal Kombat 1 has been a great addition to the famous franchise. Outside of Floyd, fans are excited to perform fatalities with Ghostface and Conan the Barbarian. Will we see the rumored pink ninja when the DLC releases tomorrow, or will we have to wait for his appearance a little longer?
