In ARC Raiders, numerous variables were introduced alongside the large ARCs and other players. These mechanics, including terrain angles and unexpected gunfire, break any preset attack sequence.
Consequently, a boss can be shot by another player from a strange direction or appear on a slope the developers never anticipated. Given that this chaos makes reliable pattern recognition practically impossible for players, a question arises: Would you try to memorize a dance routine if your partner kept shoving you?
When AI is Too Wild to Choreograph
The development team realized their ambitious vision simply wasn’t viable for their chosen genre. Specifically, tightly choreographed encounters found in solo RPGs were prevented by the very systems that make the PvEvP gameplay dynamic and exciting. Slow ultimately stated that players would never see the pattern the developers intended, which led to a shift in design philosophy.
