Arc Raiders Candleberries: Finding the Essential Items for The Flickering Flames Event

In Arc Raiders, you’ll fight machines, survive firefights, and forage for resources. Sometimes, foraging is key, especially since those little red nuisances are essential for the Cold Snap event. If you’ve joined the recent playtests, you’ve probably struggled to find Candleberries. Here’s every route and location to fill your pockets with these little rubies.

In the world of Arc Raiders, resources are everything, and you scavenge to survive. Candleberries are a consumable resource item that can be found in the wild during the Cold Snap. While they might look like a casual hiking snack, they are primarily gathered for quests, crafting, or trading, particularly for the Flickering Flames event. The problem is that organic resources require you actually to touch the grass to gather. And in a game where the grass is usually hiding a murder-bot, that’s a risky proposition.

Best Locations to Find Candleberries

The most important thing to note is the environment. Currently, the best time and place to farm these is associated with the “Cold Snap” conditions. You are looking for bushes that have distinct, bright red berries on them against the blindingly white, snowy terrain.

The Buried City Outskirts

One of the most consistent spots players are reporting is around the outskirts of the Buried City map. Don’t go deep into the urban density unless you want a fight; stick to the fringes where nature begins to reclaim the concrete. The transition zones between heavy urban areas and the open wilderness often spawn the bushes you need. Check out Trapper’s Glade and Olive Grove for those plentiful bounties.

Open Snowy Plains

Keep your eyes on the ground level in open fields. It sounds counterintuitive to run in the open—because it is—but the Candleberries tend to spawn on low-lying shrubs in these areas. Look for patches of vegetation that haven’t been totally covered by snowdrifts.

Random Loot: Search The Buildings

This is not a specific location, but it can get you a good handful of candleberries. Raider Caches are small ticking containers that have up to six of those beauties. The catch is that you need the Raider Tool to perform a breach and search.

Baskets can also spawn up to six candleberries, and there’s no special tool needed – because the devs know that it’s just a basket. The only hard work you would have to do is running up and down abandoned structures. These mini treasure troves are hidden somewhere inside the buildings, so you’d best be getting a move on before some other treasure hunter does.

Strategies for Efficient Farming

Knowing where they are is only half the battle because all of your hard gathering will mean nothing if you get killed before extraction. There is nothing more heartbreaking than filling your backpack with quest items only to get clapped near the extraction zone. To ensure you actually get to keep your hard-earned fruit, try these tips:

Keep a Low Profile

This isn’t the time to practice your 360-no-scopes. If you are on a berry run, play stealthily. Avoid engaging the ARC machines unless necessary. Gunfire draws attention, and attention draws death. When it comes to gathering high-value items, your main focus must be on getting the candleberries to safety.

Scan the Horizon

Because the berries are red and the ground is white, you can often spot them through a scope. Find a high vantage point, scout the area for red dots in the bushes, and plan your route. It’s safer than running blindly from bush to bush. Those red dotted bushes can expose you easily, so treat the snowy areas like they are full of traps.

Don’t Get Greedy

We have all been there. You have enough Candleberries to finish the quest, BUT you see one more bush just over the ridge. Please don’t do it. The longer you stay in the raid, the higher the probability of something going wrong. If you have what you need, get to the extract. You know where another one is, so just wait until after you complete your current mission.

Operation Candleberries is A Go!

The Arc Raiders Cold Snap update won’t be around long. The Flickering Flames event needs those candleberries now before the devs move on to the next update. Search and harvest with caution as you scavenge through the murder fields for those tiny red fruits. Plan and check everywhere and everything to find boxes full of potential candleberries, and most of all, have fun…and don’t get shot.
