On August 27, Nintendo Direct was held via YouTube. Here, Electronic Arts announced the return of a franchise for Nintendo Switch, the MySims Cozy Bundle. The “retro re-release” includes two games originally released for Wii and Nintendo DS: MySims and MySims Kingdom. The new re-release is remastered for the Nintendo Switch with better graphics and adapted controls. Originally thought to be lost to time, Nintendo knew what its audience needed with this release.
Remastered Cozy Nostalgia
Based on the classic lifestyle game, MySims became the children-friendly spin-off of The Sims in 2007. Unlike the original, this version gives players more playability by combining story and creativity elements. With Animal Crossing inspiration and life simulator aspects, MySims quickly became an essential for casual gamers. The series proved to be successful, selling 3.72 million units within 6 months of release. The game still holds the Guinness World Record for the Best-Selling Sims Game for Nintendo Consoles.
Not only do players unlock buildings and clothes, but every townsperson is customizable as well. From hairstyles to eye and hair colors, players truly have endless options for creativity. Befriending different townspeople unlocks more customizations so players can build their perfect community. Play through to the end, and you’ll create a beautiful community for people to live in.
Discover New Friends and Adventures
MySims follow a storyline that pushes players’ creative bounds. In MySims, players help the mayor rebuild the town to attract new residents. Unlocking Blueprints throughout the story gives access to more build options. Players get to create communities to their liking. With nods to the classic MySims, the bundle will feature fan-favorite characters. DJ Candy and Chef Gino will help guide you on your adventure as you play.
Soon, its sequel, MySims Kingdom expanded the world now with a community ruled by a king. Like the previous game, you must help decorate the town. This time, there is a villain who is messing with the town. As the new Wandolier, you are to investigate who could be trying to sabotage the kingdom. Uncover secrets to get Mana, and unlock more decor and clothing options to progress through the game. Instead of Blueprints, players will collect Scrolls to get more build options. As you beautify the island, players will attract both residents and animals. One fan-favorite animal returning to the series is Bobaboo the triceratops.
MySims Celebratory Return
For 17 years, the series was lost through time after releasing campaign-focused adventures including MySims Agents. Then on the August 27th Nintendo Direct, people were shocked that EA re-released the franchise over its new console. The announcement got fans excited, and even the MySims fandom page resumed its update. Appealing to both nostalgia and comfort, the MySims Cozy Bundle is now available for preorder on the Nintendo eShop.
