Gamescom has seen an uprise in announcements and reveals for all new games and dlcs for existing games. Dead by Daylight is no exception, the developers have recently announced yet another collaboration, this time with the famous Boulet Brothers. This has been an interesting announcement considering all collaborations so far have been with horror icons, classic and modern, but this will be the first for the horror TV show hosts. Here’s what we know so far.
Who Are The Boulet Brothers?
The Boulet Brothers is a pair of drag queens who are also artists in the sense of fashion. They made their first appearance in the web series: Transformations where they appeared as guests to participate in a challenge of applying their style of makeup. They host the show, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, where other aspiring drag queens compete in a reality competition with a changing theme with each episode where the winner takes home the grand title.
The show first debuted on YouTube, eventually gaining popularity to be streamed on services like Netflix and Amazon Video before eventually landing on becoming an exclusive on the streaming service Shudder. Their rise to fame is an inspiring one, considering the reputation of the LGBTQ+ community throughout the decades. Their outfits and makeup are still centered around the theme of Horror and Monsters, which allows for creativity not thought of before. This isn’t the first time that the couple has made a collaboration, they should be able to bring many great ideas to how they can be utilized in the game.
The Couple As Killers
Dead by Daylight is known for its survival horror elements and excellent use of collaborations with third-party characters. For those familiar with The Boulet Brothers, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they appeared as a killer. One or both of them could be in the game as killers, maybe using knives or summoning weapons to attack survivors.
Their killer ability can be summoning monsters into the match to help them hunt down survivors. Perhaps since they are known for their makeup and outfits, they could shape-shift into survivors to trick them into a trap. Some of their unique perks could mean the difference between life and death. Perhaps they could have a unique perk that summons monsters that don’t hurt the survivors but can scare them which will expose their positions to the couple.
Another unique perk that could allow them to leave decoys around the map to scare the survivors and leave them uneasy with what they see. Nothing can be said for sure, but who knows, Dead by Daylight hasn’t disappointed us yet with new characters.
The Couple As Survivors
On the off chance that the couple could be introduced as survivors, how would they be implemented in this collaboration? Due to their skillset, they would most likely work best as healers or probably create a whole unique class of their own. Since they’re good with precision tools and also have good attention to detail, they are qualities of effective medics too. Maybe a perk you can get from them could be when they unhook a survivor, it adds a camouflage effect to them that hides them from the killer for a few seconds.
This could help against killers who like to camp or train closely to hooked survivors, leaving the other survivors with an unfair disadvantage. Or perhaps, when they heal a survivor, the survivor can run away without leaving any scratch marks, which can also help with survivors being unfairly targeted by the killer. There’s much to be desired in this upcoming collaboration, however, the bars are set high for what the couple could bring to the table.
Exclusive Cosemetics
The Boulet Brothers are known for their sense of fashion, perhaps they could probably play a role in unlocking in game cosmetics. Using iridescent shards or Auric Cells from the game, the couple could have their own unique shop. The player could purchase rare cosmetics for cheaper than normal through them or perhaps buy cosmetics only available through them.
There’s also the possibility for them to be featured in their own loot box reward system, say the player completes the challenge for a killer or a survivor for a specific cosmetic they’re after. Now they can acquire it through The Boulet Brothers’ reward system for completeing the challenge. It makes sense for why they would be involved with cosmetics in this collaboration.
Departing Thoughts
Dead by Daylight fans are hyped up with all these recent announcements, especially the FNAF collaboration that was also announced not too long ago. The game has been receiving phenomenal support since its release with no signs of stopping anytime soon.
Ever since the game’s launch in 2016, the team behind it has remained determined to keep the game up and running for the foreseeable future. With single-player games based on the DBD Universe such as the upcoming The Casting of Frank Stone, the team is doing something right, all the more reason why they shouldn’t stop now. We all look forward to more interesting collaborations in years to come.
