Children of the ’90s, rejoice! A true classic is making a stylish comeback, and it’s heading to the Nintendo Switch 2: James Bond! Today’s Nintendo Switch 2 announcement was stacked with new games, but one reveal had fans instantly losing it the moment that iconic theme song kicked in. You know the one, that familiar, pulse-pounding melody that instantly transported us back to the golden age of polygons, snowy infiltrations, and frantic bunker hideouts. Yep, that game.
IO Interactive To Create James Bond
The world’s most famous spy is officially making his way to the Switch, and this time, he’s in some seriously capable hands. IO Interactive, the brilliant minds behind the Hitman series, will be heading up development for this new Bond adventure.
While the trailer didn’t show off much, it gave us just enough to send fans into full nostalgia mode (childhood flashing through my mind). Honestly, it barely gave us anything! Just enough to get fans of the series hyped up. The teaser ended with the unmistakable gun barrel shot transforming into the 007 Project logo, an image similar to the one burned into the memories of anyone who grew up with Bond games and movies alike. Classic and oh-so-cool to watch in an opening scene.
Final Thoughts
Details are light right now, so the question is, which way will they go with James Bond? Will they create a whole new game under the James Bond and 007 name, or will it be a reimagined or remastered version of a classic, like Goldeneye? With IO Interactive at the helm, we can expect sharp stealth mechanics, gorgeous visuals, and a narrative worthy of the Bond name. If their work on the Hitman trilogy is anything to go by, we could be looking at the most polished Bond experience to date. Here’s to hoping that it can translate over into the James Bond game that we are not eagerly waiting for.
