Monster Hunter Wilds fans are preparing to learn and see more about Capcom’s upcoming title during this year’s Tokyo Game Fest. The dev team will finally show gameplay set in another locale. Fans are expecting more reveals along with that gameplay, including the elusive release and public demo dates. With the big event less than one week away, here’s what might just be in store.
Exploring the Scarlet Forest
Unlike every trailer, weapon showcase, and recorded demo shown so far, hunters will be getting the chance to visually explore the Scarlet Forest. The only locale that has been thoroughly shown off is the Windward Plains. The Scarlet Forest was briefly shown off in the most recent Monster Hunter Wilds trailer at Gamescom 2024. That means future players of the game only received a glimpse at the terrors that lurk within the trees and shadows.
Along with the trailer came the introduction of a monster that calls the locale home. Lala Barina is a Temnoceran that weaves brilliant and bright red webs to catch its prey. When threatened, it can open its thorax, making it resemble a rose in bloom. While not too much is known about this creature just yet, the trailer shows that Lala Barina has the ability to paralyze its prey as well as hopeful hunters.
What Might Be Revealed
So far, Lala Barina is the only monster revealed for the Scarlet Forest locale. While it’s almost a guarantee that the Monster Hunter dev team will show it off, there’s growing speculation that more monsters will be revealed. One of the popular theories is that this is when Congalala‘s return will be officially confirmed. It’s a theory shared by regular fans and die-hard content creators like RageGamingVideos. Of course, that may not be the case. Those watching might be graced with another new monster or even a returning monster that no one expected.
With every new trailer or showcase of Monster Hunter Wilds, the release date is perhaps the biggest desire to see. With the Tokyo Game Show, this is especially true since Monster Hunter World‘s release date was revealed during the event in 2017. If the date for Wilds isn’t revealed next week, the anticipation for the knowledge will only grow with each day that passes.
When to Watch
Luckily, Capcom hasn’t left the schedule for its Tokyo Game Show presence in the dark. This goes for the Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay showcase. Future players will get to see all the new action live on September 27 at 9:00 p.m. PT, which lands the broadcast in the early hours of September 28 for a large portion of the world. For British viewers, they have to be up at 5:00 a.m. Viewers will be able to join the MH Community Team for a fun-filled watch party over on Twitch.
Before the new gameplay footage, Monster Hunter Wilds comes up on September 26 during the Capcom Online Program. Other Capcom titles will be brought up and shown off, so it’ll be a good time even for those not really into hunting monsters and carving them for cool armor sets. The program begins at 7:00 a.m. PT.
