Flute Guy Reveals Instruments He Played During His Awesome Game Awards Performance

At The Game Awards 2025, one of the most memorable moments was when Pedro Eustache, whom the internet dubbed “Flute Guy” constantly switching instruments during an orchestral montage of excerpts from the scores for the Game of the Year nominees. However, you might have been wondering what some of those instruments were. Well, you’re about to find out.

Flute Guy’s Viral Performance

In Flute Guy’s memorable performance, he swapped instruments seemingly on the fly, shifting his breath from little instruments to big instruments and back again. He also seemed to be putting his entire heart and soul into each instrument, vigorously playing as if all his energy and then some was going into the performance. As such, even people who didn’t watch The Game Awards or aren’t interested in gaming shared his display.

The Flute Guy himself, Pedro Eustache, has been a fan favorite for a few years, and he always seems to outdo himself at every Game of the Year performance. Some fans might have been curious about the instruments he used during this year’s performance, so he went and shared his secrets with the public.

The Instruments Flute Guy Played

In a tweet, Eustache expressed his gratitude to the fans, stating the following:

“Hi gamers of the world!

THANKS FOR YOUR OVERWHELMING SUPPORT AFTER THE @THEGAMEAWARDS 2025!

MUCH LOVE! GOD BLESS YOU!

As promised, here’s a short video showing the flutes I played in the GOTY -by the amazing @lornebalfe.

I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR COMMENTS!

Enjoy”

In the video, he shared the names of the flutes he played during the performance. The first was called the Armenian shvi headjoint, which he used for the introduction and the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 theme. After that came the Armenian balloon head, which was 3D-printed and, as the name suggests, has a mouthpiece that looks like a balloon. Then came the PVC-based flute, which was used for the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 theme. This flute looks like a twisted bathroom pipe.

Afterwards came the wooden Chinese dizi for the Hollow Knight: Silksong theme. Then there came the bass flute, which looks like it’s folded in half. If you think that’s crazy, he then unveiled the contrabass flute, which is as tall as he is. However, he forgot to explain the tiny mouth flute he played for the Donkey Kong Bananza part of the performance, which turns out to be a custom-made mouth flute.

Flute Guy Was Awesome!

As someone who knows nothing about flutes, I found his explanation and performance fascinating. Flute Guy shows that a little flamboyance and creativity go a long way. He might very well end up inspiring young musicians to go a little wild during performances. They might end up being the hit of their recitals, all thanks to Eustache’s flourish of sparkle.
