Weekly Free Games on the Epic Games Store January 1 – January 8, 2026

Happy New Year, friends! Let’s start the year with some free games from the Epic Games Store! Every Thursday, there’s one or more games available to add to your library for free. This week, there are two fantastic titles available for PC and one for mobile. Keep reading for more details!

First up, we have the turn-based strategy game, Total War: Three Kingdoms, from Creative Assembly and published by SEGA. This one is for PC only. It is a game that offers co-op online multiplayer. However, cross-play with Steam isn’t currently supported but may be coming in the future.

Choose one of the 12 legendary warlords of China’s historical epic, “Romance of the Three Kingdoms.” Conquer China under your rule while seeing the beautiful three kingdoms of China. You’ll have to recruit heroes to your armies and government to accomplish this.

The most interesting detail about Total War: Three Kingdoms is the way they describe the characters. The description says, “Characters are the beating heart of the game, and China’s very future will be shaped by its champions.” Characters are also mentioned to develop friendships and rivalries! That’s something you don’t see in every turn-based strategy game!

The second Epic Games Store PC game this week is Wildgate, a PvPvE action shooter including Artifact Brawl, Fleet Battle, and Treasure Hunt. This gives you a choice of FPS combat, spaceship combat, and “looting expeditions.” With online multiplayer and single player options, as well as cross-platform support, this game has a lot to offer!

More to Grab!

After you snag your PC games, don’t forget the Epic Games Store on mobile. This week’s freebie is Skul, The Hero Slayer. This one is a roguelike with 100 playable characters, and it’s been redesigned specifically for mobile devices.

Finally, if you’ve somehow missed it, the Holiday Sale and Epic Extras are still available through January 8. There are a whole mess of great free packs and stuff that you can add to games you already play. This is something you do not want to miss out on.

How to Claim Freebies From the Epic Games Store

Whether you want to play on your PC, Mac, Android, or iOS device, you can find the download information on the Epic Games Store website. If you’re on a computer, you can download the Epic Games Launcher to access and play your games. I know that’s not exactly shocking, and you probably figured that out already.

For the mobile games, you’ll need the QR code. Use the camera on your mobile device to scan the QR code, which will direct you to the download page. You will have to enable downloads from other sources. (Other than the native app store, that is.) This app isn’t available on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After installing the app, launch it, sign in, and then scroll down to find the current free game.

And that’s what we have for you this week! Check back next week, and we’ll highlight the new game offerings from the Epic Games Store. We’re staying on top of the latest gaming news, so you don’t have to worry about any FOMO.

Happy gaming!
