Green Games Showcase – Saving the World Through Fun at Summer Game Fest 2025

The Green Games showcase at Summer Game Fest demonstrated how the gaming industry is working to reduce its carbon footprint. While video games aren’t good for the environment, certain gaming companies are working towards making gaming more environmental. The Green Games showcase was sponsored by Planet Play, a non-profit dedicated to making gaming a greener lifestyle and improving the environment. The games demonstrated at Summer Game Fest were divided into three categories. The first category was for games that specifically had green themes.

Imagine Earth 

A city-building simulator where you have to manage a planetary settlement and balance it with climate change effects.

Elowyn: Quest of Time

A nature-themed card game.

Longleaf Planting

A puzzle game themed around planting trees.

Out and About

A cozy game about foraging.

Hawethorn

A game about a colony of animals.

Sky Farmer Island
