For most gamers, driving a kart on all sorts of tracks was a chance to chase Bullet Bill, a red shell, or, if you were lucky enough to be on the tail end, the infamous blue shell. Each release of the game over the years has brought more characters, tracks, and opportunities to play. Mario World promises to bring the next evolution in the franchise.

Where the Karts have been

Nintendo developed Mario Kart and is arguably one of the most popular racing games in the world. In the game, players have the chance to race a go-kart with the aid of a variety of power-ups that can be picked up during the race. Once started, characters from the Mario franchise can be selected to be your racer to test their skills on tracks from the Mario universe. Some of these locations and characters range from The Legend of Zelda, F-Zero, Splatoon, and F-Zero.

It all started with Super Mario Kart back in 1992, which was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Its success brought on a chain of fifteen descendants that have ranged from being playable on their consoles as well as in the arcade or on mobile phones. Its popularity has grown worldwide, and it has sold almost 200 million copies.

Mario Kart World is Coming

The next installment of the franchise is Mario Kart World, and it will be here on June 5th. It is coming out on the Nintendo Switch 2, where racers will have the chance to test their skills on the track against 23 other opponents. In all the kayos that these racers will bring in a Mario Kart first open-world format. Players will have the chance to select from 40 playable characters in different modes. However, there may be a twist with the development of the game you were aware of.

The developers of Mario Kart World, who were new to the game, were favored by the team. It wasn’t because they were easy to beat, but as game designer Shinataro Jikumaru has let out that some developers who weren’t as good at playing the game contributed some things that others who were more familiar with the game couldn’t. Not just in the tracks or when was the best place and time to use a mushroom or red shell, but in the characters themselves.

New Hands, New Experiences

Jikumaru stated in a blog that he has played and worked on the Mario Kart franchise for so long that he has a good idea of what advanced players think like. However, getting into the mind of newcomers to the series might run into problems that he wouldn’t have expected. Having players of all levels is invaluable, bringing more to the development team. It appears that some of the developers were called “favorites” by others to test with. They basically would hand them a controller without warning or a clue and let the race go.

Their experience would be invaluable with new characters, Karts, combinations, and how they played gave the game makers a new perspective. Mario Kart has always been designed for a wide target audience. This little detail can give hope to fans who have their prospective character favorites as well as experience playing the game. It also means that newcomers who haven’t felt the thrill of pushing the pedal down with a dangerous shell closing in on them will have a game that won’t exclude them.

Covering New and Experienced Gamers

The Mario Kart World will not just be for those who grew up playing the game, but will also have a place for the new. It will have increased characters, modes, and an open world way to play for everyone. Get those Karts ready for excitement and make sure your opponents only see the back of your head or ask where that shell you just shot out came from.
