Nintendo Announces Exciting Indie World Showcase for August 7

Fresh from last week’s Partner Showcase Direct, Nintendo has announced that there will be an Indie World Showcase on Thursday. This will give players a chance to look at upcoming indie games for the Switch and Switch 2. The showcase will run on August 7 at 6 AM PT/9 AM EST, and will last for approximately fifteen minutes.

Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase

An announcement on Nintendo’s official site states, “Join us this Thursday, August 7 at 6am PT for a new Indie World Showcase! Tune in for roughly 15 minutes of new announcements and updates on indie games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch.” While it doesn’t say which games will be featured, we can reasonably assume that major indie games like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Hades II could make an appearance. In addition, we could receive announcements for new indie games we haven’t yet heard of. Perhaps the next bestselling indie game will be somewhere in this showcase.

Where Can I Watch the Showcase?

The showcase will be streamed on Nintendo’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. Just like with their other Directs, it should also be available on the Switch and Switch 2 News channels shortly after the streaming, and it will also remain on their YouTube channel. It will begin at 6 AM PT/9 AM EST, and it is supposed to run for around fifteen minutes, though it could run a few minutes beyond that length.

Conclusion

While fans are undoubtedly still anxious about a Metroid Prime 4 release date, they shouldn’t overlook the indie games on the Switch and Switch 2. The world of indie games is wonderfully varied and creative. If you can’t yet afford Mario Kart World or Donkey Kong Bananza or you’re just waiting on the prices to drop, you might want to give some cheaper indie games a try. You might find your new favorite game among the smaller developers.
