Nintendo Switch 2 Excitement Driven by Mario Kart World

Hype for the Nintendo Switch 2 is everywhere. People are excited about the new technical specs, the Joy-Con mouse controls, and of course, the new games. Despite complaints about the high prices for both the console and the games, the system looks like it will bring a bit of comfort in an increasingly uncertain world. It also looks like a good portion of that comfort will come from the signature launch title, Mario Kart World.

According to GameRant, the Switch 2 is expected to be “the single most important gaming anything released this year.” Indeed, the Switch 2 might be exactly what the country needs in this time of discord and uncertainty.  With new horrors showing up in the news every day, the Switch 2 could be an opportunity for people to escape the world and concentrate on throwing Koopa shells at other racers in Mario Kart World.

Excitement for Mario Kart World

The latest entry in Nintendo’s massively popular Mario Kart franchise, Mario Kart World, will be available as a bundle with the Switch 2 or be purchasable on its own. While there are plenty of Switch 2 titles to be excited about, Mario Kart World seems to be the game generating the most hype. A Reddit thread asks people what excites them the most about the Nintendo Switch 2, and many users are talking about Mario Kart World. As a user named “EvilTaffyapple” puts it, “I’ll get hundreds of hours out of Mario Kart, so the price is somewhat inconsequential for me, compared to the value I’ll get out of the game.”

But About The Price . . .

Of course, the price is still an issue. The bundle of the Nintendo Switch 2 and Mario Kart World will cost $500, and Mario Kart World on its own will cost $80. During the Mario Kart World Nintendo Direct, people spammed “DROP THE PRICE” in the chatbox. Despite this, many of those same people probably already have the Switch 2’s Mario Kart World bundle preordered.

Conclusion

Nintendo has brought comfort to an uncertain world before, when Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mario Kart World and the Nintendo Switch 2 might offer a similar remedy from the world’s troubles. With features like an open world to explore, a “Knockout Mode” that centers on elimination, and unlockable outfits for the racers, there will be plenty of stuff to keep people busy. People will be racing long after they’ve forgotten about the price.
