10 Awesome Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 Games Coming in 2026
2026 is here, which means it’s time to anticipate the year’s releases for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The Switch 2 debuted to phenomenal sales last year, so how will Nintendo maintain the hype for their new console this year? Moreover, how will they continue to please fans of the original Switch? Here are ten awesome-looking releases on the Switch or Switch 2 in 2026.
1. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
Mario’s adorable dinosaur pal hasn’t had his own game since Yoshi’s Crafted World in 2019. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, set for release on the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026, finds Yoshi exploring a talking book named Mr. E. Along the way, you’ll solve puzzles and discover the book’s secrets. Like all Yoshi games, this game looks colorful and charming. It will likely be a must-play for Yoshi fans, myself included.
2. Mario Tennis Fever

Nintendo seems to be taking their sweet time in releasing a new mainline Mario game for the Switch 2, but in the meantime, fans can scratch that Mario itch with Mario Tennis Fever. Set for release on the Switch 2 on February 12, the latest entry in the Mario Tennis series introduces Fever Shots and Fever Rackets, which let you do fancy tricks on the court. There’s also a story mode where Mario and friends turn into babies. Someone at Nintendo really likes Mario and company as babies.
3. Pokémon: Pokopia
Coming to the Switch 2 on March 5, this is a cozy game where you build a community for Pokémon. Playing as Ditto Pokémon who has shapeshifted into a human, you can utilize different Pokémons’ skills to build and craft, creating habitats for different Pokémon. Of course, there is no shortage of cozy games out there, but the Pokémon tie-it will likely help this game stand out from the competition.
4. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Yes, the first chapter of the mighty Final Fantasy VII remake is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on January 22. Now, Nintendo fans can finally experience the reimagining of one of the greatest RPGs of all time. While there is currently no set Switch 2 release date for the sequel, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, there is a chance that it could come to the Switch 2 in 2026 as well.
5. Resident Evil Requiem – Nintendo Switch Port
The much-anticipated ninth chapter in the Resident Evil saga comes to the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27. With two intertwining stories, this game promises plenty of the suspense and tension that the series is known for. The two lead characters, Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, will have to dive into their pasts in order to survive, with gameplay that lets you switch between first-person and third-person on the fly.
6. Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 Update

Okay, so it’s not a new game, but fans are anticipating it like it’s a new game. This update to our beloved Animal Crossing: New Horizons will bring in a ton of new features, including a hotel you can decorate, new retro gaming and Lego items, and even the ability to play select retro games with a current Nintendo Switch Online account. The update will be free for all New Horizons owners on the Switch and Switch 2, though there will also be a paid Switch 2 edition of the game.
7. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
Coming to both the Switch and Switch 2 sometime in 2026, this new Batman adventure lets you be Batman and do Batman stuff like fight enemies on rooftops and drive the Batmobile through the streets of Gotham. The trailer promises that this game will capture the humor and charm that Lego games are famous for. After the awesomeness that was Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, expectations are high for this one.
8. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

The Dragon Quest franchise has been semi-quiet in the last few years, so this remake is being met with high anticipation. Coming to both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on February 6, this remake features beautiful graphics, a refined story, and improved combat. If you’ve never played a Dragon Quest game, this might be a good place to start your Dragon Quest journey.
9. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
The latest entry of the Fire Emblem series is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026. While there isn’t yet much information available about the game, the trailer looks amazing, with rich, detailed graphics and large worlds. Of course, the trailer also shows off that strategic combat that the series is known for. Fire Emblem fans will definitely be excited for this game.
10. Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection

The latest entry in the Monster Hunter Stories series is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on March 13th. In this RPG, twin Rathalos hatch from a single egg, and you play their Rider. The graphics are gorgeous, and the story sounds epic. Speaking as someone who’s never played any of the Monster Hunter games, this game has me interested in giving the series a try.
