Nintendo Switch Online Only Added One New Title in August, But It’s a Classic – NSO Monthly Roundup 8/25
Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack is slowly but surely expanding its new GameCube Library for the Nintendo Switch 2. While August was a slow month for the Nintendo subscription service’s retro game collection, the one game that was added in August is sure to delight many fans of the GameCube, especially those who love hidden gems.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Added Chibi-Robo!
If you’re a fan of the GameCube‘s classic roster, you’ve probably heard of Chibi-Robo. If you’re not a GameCube lover, you might be wondering what this game is. Well, a little girl gets a tiny helper robot for her birthday. As Chibi-Robo, you need to help out around the house to gain happiness points from the family. During the day, you can clean up and talk to the family, and at night, you can make friends with the toys who come to life at night. The game has a semi-open-world feel, since you can explore the house at your leisure and unlock different outfits and other secrets.
I had never played this game before it came to Nintendo Switch Online, but I still found myself charmed, and I see now why it has a cult following. I haven’t gotten too far into the game yet, but I definitely intend to keep coming back to it so I can discover the secrets the house has to offer.
What About Switch 1 Players?
Chibi-Robo is a great addition if you own a Nintendo Switch 2. However, Nintendo Switch 1 players have gotten the short end of the stick these past few months. If you don’t yet have a Switch 2, the only game added to your Nintendo Switch Online roster all summer was Mario Paint – and even that game requires a mouse to play. Here’s hoping that in September, Switch 1 players will get some retro additions that don’t require extra perephrials.
Conclusion
GameCube fans should be happy to have Chibi-Robo in the Switch Online library. Now a whole new generation can discover this quirky game, and that might even inspire Nintendo to bring the Chibi-Robo series back from the dead. However, Switch 1 players deserve some love too. Please, Nintendo, remember that not everyone has a Switch 2 yet. Don’t neglect your other retro libraries.
