Nintendo Switch Online Added 3 Fun Wacky Platformers in December 2025 – NSO Monthly Roundup

As Nintendo Switch Online wrapped up 2025, they gave us a few more treats in December, but you can only enjoy them if you have the Expansion Pack. The theme for December seemed to be wacky 3D platformers, since we got two of them for the Nintendo 64 and one for the GameCube. Let’s dive into the new additions to Nintendo Switch Online.

Wario World

This GameCube adventure was Wario’s first (and so far, only) 3D platformer. Wario has stolen a cursed jewel, and now it’s causing havoc, so Wario must travel through colorful worlds to stop it. As you might expect from a Wario game, you collect a lot of treasure as you fight your way through enemies and jump through platforms. Is it as good as your typical 3D Mario platformer? No, but it’s still a fun time, and its short length means that you can likely beat it even with a busy life.

It’s kind of interesting that Rayman 2 came to the Nintendo 64 when the first Rayman game didn’t come to any Nintendo consoles, but the little armless creature made a glorious step to 3D in his Nintendo debut. Rayman 2 presents a fun world that you just want to run around and explore – if the pirates don’t kill you first. Like a lot of good 3D platformers, it’s also full of collectibles, encouraging you to explore every last corner. Even if you’ve never played a Rayman game, this is a good way to discover the franchise.

Tonic Trouble

I had never played this Nintendo 64 platformer before it came to Nintendo Switch Online. In just the first couple of levels, you’re fighting a vegetable rebellion and powering yourself up at popcorn machines that look like they have the Newman’s Own logo on them. The sheer weirdness makes you just want to keep playing – seriously, I was having a blast, so I was surprised to discover that this game isn’t well-received. Maybe it gets worse as it progresses, but judging by what I played, I give it a solid recommendation.

Dive Into The Weirdness Of Nintendo Switch Online!

If you have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack account, Wario World, Rayman 2, and Tonic Trouble all let you embrace your weird side as the new year starts. Many 3D platformers in the late 1990s and early 2000s created worlds where anything could happen, as these three games demonstrate. If the world is bogging down on you, boot up the Nintendo Switch Online retro collections and transport yourself into some colorful, wacky adventures.
