VTuber Fans Torn Over Ironmouse’s Loss at Streamer Awards
Vtubers and their fans are torn over TheBurntPeanut’s win at last week’s Streamer Awards. The VTuber community is split over the animated peanut winning over Ironmouse and other Vtubers. Ironmouse had a three-year winning streak as Best VTuber, but the anthropomorphic peanut killed her streak. The BurntPeanut is on record for saying that he isn’t a traditional VTuber.
Post-Streamer Awards Responses
Ironmouse, a former employee of VShojo, defended TheBurntPeanut on X (formerly Twitter). She said, “I don’t get it, I don’t get the hate, I don’t understand. People are like ‘he’s not a VTuber’, he literally is a VTuber, that literally is the definition of a VTuber bro.” She added, “me cringing at all the people mad that peanut won. every vtuber in that category deserved to be there.”
VShojo shut down in July 2025 after all of their VTuber talent left following accusations that the talent, namely Ironmouse, who has Common Variable Immunodeficiency or CVID.
Shizu, another VTuber, replied to Ironmouse. Shizu said, “I like you Mousie, but I’m not gonna support someone whose whole gimmick is mocking vtubers and has a community that hates them becoming ‘tuber of the Year’ after having the votes gassed up by people like shroud as a way to make more fun of vtubers.”
Mori Calliope, an employee of Hololive’s English division, said, “peanut sweep, huge congrats.” Mori Calliope was a nominee for Best VTuber along with Ironmouse, Kenji and Chibidoki.
Post-Streamer Awards Criticism
Another VTuber, Maple Chicken, said on X, “I don’t doubt that this guy is highly entertaining, fun and makes quality content. He deserves recognition. But is anyone else a little bummed that vtubers were hardly nominated outside of the best vtuber category? And best vtuber went to someone who doesn’t even consider himself a part of the community? I feel a bit disheartened ngl. It is funny, but sucks to see your community and what you’re passionate about not even be taken seriously or get a seat at the table.”
The Streamer Awards were live on December 4. TheBurntPeanut also won Best FPS Streamer, due to his popularity streaming games such as ARC Raiders and Escape from Tarkov. The animated peanut created his Twitch account in late 2019 but became popular in 2024.
