Ubisoft Scouting a New Universe in Potential New Game

According to several gaming insiders, Ubisoft is currently developing a new multiplayer shooter. The company has transitioned from its long history of shooters, delivering iconic titles across the Tom Clancy and Far Cry franchises. However, the enduring Rainbow Six Siege remains the only true hit in the company’s competitive multiplayer space. As rivals like Bungie and EA continue to dominate the scene, is Ubisoft finally preparing to launch a new contender?

Ubisoft’s Secret Sci-Fi Shooter Leaks

From a recent leak, Ubisoft may be aiming for the stars, quite literally, with a sci-fi project. Twitter leaker Shiny initially posted details about this unannounced Ubisoft title, as it’s reportedly built in Unreal Engine 5 and features a sci-fi setting. Furthermore, the leak promises competitive multiplayer with crossplay support on a larger scale than many current titles.

Another user, 6leaks, later bolstered this claim by potentially revealing the codenamed Project as Scoutlater. Additionally, they shared screenshots from the project. These images of a loading screen with concept art and an in-progress screenshot displayed early assets and a user interface. Lastly, the UI hints at team-based mechanics, which include a character portrait, a compass, and a crew level indicator.

The Scout’s Galactic Tour Begins

Still, players should remain skeptical of this news as Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed the existence of Project Scout. The publisher usually doesn’t announce projects until they’re good and ready, often after several mysterious delays. Taking the studio’s track record into consideration, whether this leaked project actually materializes or gets lost in development limbo is the biggest question. Although the concept looks intriguing, can this cool idea be turned into a polished and satisfying gameplay experience?

Ultimately, the leaked information paints a picture that Ubisoft is trying to capture the magic of Siege in a new universe. The sci-fi setting not only offers a fresh canvas but also potentially frees itself from the realistic constraints of a Tom Clancy game. As a result, more creative weapons and abilities may be introduced in Project Scout, allowing players to blast their friends with a plasma rifle in zero gravity. After all, the company must have the right stuff to build another multiplayer hit, or it risks becoming a one-trick pony.
