Xbox May Be Sabotaging Itself as Another Price Hike Sparks Gamer Outrage

Xbox has had a very strange year following its price increases, which may be actively convincing people not to buy its console. The company not only raised the price of the Xbox on two separate occasions, but it also increased the cost of Game Pass. Additionally, its biggest exclusive games were released on competing platforms. For gamers, finding a reason to purchase a console has become a real challenge. So, why would anyone buy one now?

The Xbox console has already raised its prices from $500 to $650, which is a significant amount of money for a standard machine. Furthermore, this price change stands out even more when a more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro exists at a similar price. Unfortunately, the situation may worsen for players, as indicated by a new report. According to a tech insider known as Moore’s Law is Dead, widespread RAM shortages are about to impact the console very soon.

Apparently, Microsoft put itself in a seriously difficult situation after it failed to plan for this shortage. Sadly, the company may raise prices yet again or halt production and let these console supplies vanish. The brand’s future seems bleak, prompting a serious question: Is Xbox trying to win the console race or gracefully exit it?

The Gamble That May Not Pay

Unlike Microsoft, its rival Sony has treated its fans better, as it had the foresight to purchase vast amounts of RAM when prices were low. So, while Xbox doesn’t have much choice in raising its prices, PlayStation should avoid any major price hikes for the next several months. As a result, Sony has a clear competitive advantage over Microsoft. Although this doesn’t mean that Sony won’t ever raise its prices, any Xbox increase would likely happen first and hit harder.

As this entire situation unfolds, customers are receiving a clear signal to buy a console now if they were planning. Manufacturers across the board are facing higher costs, proving that this potential price increase isn’t just an Xbox problem. Following these price increases, every gamer faces an interesting dilemma. Basically, the question that they must ask themselves is how much they’re truly willing to pay to play.
