Amazing Nintendo Direct Date Finally Confirmed in June 2024

The Legend of Zelda Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Direct that was supposed to happen in June of 2024 has finally been confirmed. The game company was resolute that they’d share with gamers what they can expect to see this year, but they didn’t give any insight as to when this would occur. Finally, after weeks of speculation, Nintendo put an end to it all by revealing exactly when the next Nintendo Direct would air.

Next Nintendo Direct Date Revealed

Nintendo finally confirmed in a tweet that they’d show everyone what’s on the release schedule on Tuesday, June 18. At 7:00 am PT (10:00 am EST), the company will go live on their YouTube channel to show what they’ve been working on. They have been rather quiet lately, and fans of the brand and system have been desperate for any sort of information as to what’s next.

They estimate that roughly 40 minutes of game trailers and announcements will take place. It will shape the immediate future of the brand, as the remaining release schedule for 2024 is rather barren. There are very few first-party titles confirmed for the rest of the year. Speculation is rampant, but hard information is scarce right now. That will change at about this time tomorrow.

What to Expect at Nintendo Showcase

Some Nintendo Direct Showcases are better than others. There are some that reveal major games, like the one that first showed off The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Others mainly show off third-party smaller releases. It’s unclear what Nintendo has planned right now, but we can expect at least something sizeable.

Nintendo has only clarified one thing about the upcoming Nintendo Direct: it won’t reveal the Switch 2. They stated this long ago and reiterated it in their most recent tweet. It could all be a misdirect, but that is not likely. What is likely is quite a few big remakes potentially being announced.

For the next little while, Nintendo is in limbo. The company can’t commit to huge, first-party games in their popular franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, or Pokemon. Those will undoubtedly be held for the next console. That leaves room for one thing they’ve already been doing: remakes.

In the last few months, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Super Mario RPG, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD have been remade and re-released. More of the same is far likelier than any new games. There have long been rumors of a Switch port for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Wind Waker. Those are rumors, but a Zelda remake is very possible. Until the Direct tomorrow, fans will have to continue hoping and speculating. At least now they know exactly how long they have to.
