Nintendo Switch 2 FCC filings

The Nintendo Switch 2 is causing a lot of buzz in the gaming community. When it comes to rumors in the gaming world, it’s safe to have high hopes, but just don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. The Nintendo Switch (the inception of the handheld console/home console) is 8 years old and has seen significant progress. From its original form to a smaller, more compact version (aka Switch Lite) to the bigger OLED screen, enhanced audio, and new back stand. On the horizon is the well-awaited new version, the Nintendo Switch 2. With many rumors, speculations, and even fan-made ideations, what can we expect in the upcoming months from Nintendo with official news?

With the new Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, we can see that the sliding on the side joycons is a thing of the past. The magnetic connection on each side seems to be a better configuration from its original form. However, only time will tell if this new design is the solution to the Joycon’s malfunctioning with drifting issues (crucial for gamers to avoid while hours deep into possibly an in-game boss). A concern that many Switch players may have is the longevity of the new joysticks.

Only time will tell, and of course, hints and rumors will swarm the gaming world once again, with many picking sides of who is right and who is wrong. New information from the patent hints at the R1 and R2 buttons acting like mouse buttons. With the new joystick design, they will have the capabilities of functioning like a desktop computer mouse. This may seem a bit confusing (and possibly unnecessary) to those who only play the game in its handheld form.

One major concern that many (if not all) Switch enthusiasts have had something to chime in on is the joysticks. Over time of consistent high pace use, one could expect for there to be wear and tear on the fragile joysticks. Unfortunately, it came at a cost in many forms to the consumers and Nintendo the company. Users having to purchase new joysticks to continue playing it at their leisure anywhere and not on a TV (or for streamers on their computers.) However, Nintendo did offer Switch users to mail in their joysticks for free repairs (which was smart and thoughtful of the company to do.)

Final Thoughts

What do you think about the hints of these rumors? 4/2/2025 is when the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will air, and we will all see how many rumors are true and how many were simply fan fiction. Do you think the new joystick configuration is what will make the Switch better to play on? Are you happy about the possibilities of what you may have already seen or possibly wished for? What are you looking forward to with the Nintendo Switch 2 that you have not heard rumors about? One thing to contemplate as a Switch gamer is wondering if Nintendo will reveal official news that none of us thought about during the next official Direct update, including new news about the Switch 2.
