Players of No Man’s Sky now have even more ways to explore and have fun. Hello Games released the Aquarius update for the game on September 4. It joins the dozens of named updates and more than 200 patches for the game. Just like its name may suggest, it’s all about new interactions and experiences with the overhauled bodies of water that Worlds Part I brought to the game.
Explore Aquatic Environments
As the trailer for Aquarius showed off, players are now able to experience the worlds they land and settle on in more ways. Along with exploring by sky and land, they can dive into lakes and oceans that inhabit the diverse environments found within the game. This is thanks to a newly added item within Aquarius, the diving suit. Instead of relaxing by the water, players can now take an extended swim while catching glimpses of all the marine life.
Fishing in No Man’s Sky
Perhaps the biggest pull that Aquarius has to offer is, of course, fishing. Players can settle down near a lake or vast ocean, build a fishing shack, and reel in catches to their hearts’ content. Just like life on land, the creatures new fishermen will be able to discover are diverse. They can range from small minnows to giant marine mammals. These catches are recorded in the player’s fishing log. To fill it up, players are encouraged to travel through space and craft specialized baits to land the rarer catches.
There are new tools within the game that will make fishing a bit easier. The Automated Fish Trap can help players establish a fish farm that works while they’re away exploring other planets. With the new customizable Exo-Skiff, players can also reel in fish that only reside in deeper waters. Catching all kinds of fish will allow players to experience the new cooking recipes now available within No Man’s Sky.
A New Expedition
Along with fishing and new kinds of exploration, a new expedition is available thanks to Aquarius. The Aquarius Expedition is now active and will run for about six weeks. This expedition encourages the player to go on a quest across the galaxy to catch new species of fish. Players to can complete the expedition will receive a set of deep-sea customization parts. This includes a unique underwater jetpack called the Aquarius Flightpack. Completing the expedition also uncovers the tale of the Lost Angler. The reward for this is the ability to use their unique fishing equipment.
In total, the Aquarius Expedition has six phases of fishing fun that need to be completed to earn every reward available. Players may find them quite useless as they include resources, Nanites, starship inventory slots, upgrades, and more. For those into doing a bit of decoration, blueprints, and decals are also unlocked during or upon completing the different phases.
