Pacific Drive Gets A Spooky Summer Update

Pacific Drive

The strange and spooky game Pacific Drive is putting some extra gas in the tank with a new summer update for current and new players to enjoy. The Dumpsters, DSLRs, and Drives update brings a new mode, some fun toys, and more to get players to put more miles in while exploring and experiencing the supernatural wonders of the Olympic Exclusion Zone. Here’s a look at everything this update has to offer along with future plans that Ironwood Studios has in store.

Pacific Drive Meets Photo Mode

The Dumpsters, DSLRs, and Drives update brings along with it the number one feature fans have been asking Ironwood Studios to add to the game. With the new photo mode, players can now fully capture the wonderful nightmares that can be found within the game. The feature is simple to use. All players have to do is launch from the pause menu. From there, they have access to camera settings like depth of field, focus control, and exposure to capture the perfect shot.

An abundance of filters will be at players’ disposal as well. These filters can completely change the aesthetic of the image with the help of some whimsical themes. These themes include blueprint, arcade, cartoon, and comic book styles of settings. Speaking of settings, players also now have the option to change the weather conditions and time of day. That means that they can make things seem dark and gloomy or bright and colorful at their leisure while playing this unique horror game.

New Gadgets and Customizations

There are also a few new toys to play around with while experiencing the story and unraveling the mysteries of Pacific Drive. The update brings The Juke Jet to the game. It’s a piece of equipment that can be mounted to the player’s car racks. It can be used to give a horizontal boost to help avoid dangers or to just have a bit of extra fun while driving.

For players who enjoy a bit of upgrading, there are now two new nods to unlock for the Garage Upgrade tree within the Fabrication Station. In the patch notes for the upgrade, Ironwoods Studio states the Smart Matter Deconstructor skill helps players practice their “trashketball” skills by throwing old and unwanted junk straight into the Matter Deconstructor. That’s a tool that recyclers junk into resources used for the crafting system in Pacific Drive. The skill called Vargas Auto-Pac-Vac lets players’ garage vacuum deposit materials into their transfer trunk before filling the rest of the vacuum storage.

Among the useful tools in the update for Pacific Drive also lies a new bundle of paid cosmetics. It’s called the Friendly Dumpster customization pack, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. It lets players decorate their sentient station wagons with trash-themed decals, hood ornament, air freshener, and more. The Friendly Dumpster pack costs $4.99, the cheapest of the paid cosmetic packs so far. There are also a couple of free cosmetics in the update. Those are the Believer Sticker and the Golden Dumpster Hood Ornament.

Performance Mode for PS5

Players who choose to experience the spooky fun of Pacific Drive on the PS5 now have a new mode to help the game run better on their consoles. After hearing concerns about the performance of the game on the system, Ironwood Studios has added a new setting that configures the game to better its performance. The improvements for the PS5 don’t stop with this new setting. The studio is still aiming to improve the efficiency of the PS5 performance mode as well as to improve the game across all its current platforms.

More Fun to Come

The extra fun doesn’t stop with this latest update since Ironwood Studios still has ambitious plans for Pacific Drive. Along with the summer update came a road map for the future. The upcoming update for the fall will include new difficulty modes, new game customization settings, and free cosmetics. There will also be a new paid cosmetic DLC coming along with it. A winter update is seemingly being planned as well. Currently, nothing has been revealed about it. Players will just have to wait to see what it entails. For now, they can just keep putting the pedal to the metal with the summer update for Pacific Drive.
