Palworld Feybreak is coming soon. The hit game that managed to both unite the gaming world and aggravate Nintendo is not stopping any time soon. Though they face a major lawsuit from Nintendo, their plans will not be slowed. At the 2024 Game Awards, they showed off an exciting new DLC.
Palworld Feybreak Lands in December
Palworld is not yet one year old, but it has been a supremely eventful year. They took the gaming world by storm in January by becoming “Pokémon with guns,” a title that got the wrong sort of attention. Less than 12 months later, the first major expansion to the game is coming soon.
Palworld Feybreak is going to introduce a new island so that players don’t have to explore Palpagos Island anymore. By now, most gamers have done what they can do there, so the new island comes in perfect timing. The game has had some updates over the year, but this is the first major expansion to the core game.
It is scheduled for release on December 23. The game remains free through Xbox Game Pass and is available on Steam. For now, it’s only on those platforms but more are planned. That’s good news for anyone who was excited by The Game Awards trailer that was shown off.
New Pals were shown off, showcasing that Pocketpair is adding even more creatures that vaguely resemble Pokémon. Of course, the incredible gunplay alongside the stunning world was shown off. “Pokémon with guns” might have been a reductive and potentially harmful label, but the guns are a huge, epic part of the game. The new DLC isn’t shying away from that, showing the unique hybrid gameplay that made it so fun in the first place.
Palworld Defies Nintendo Even Further
While Palworld is currently embroiled in a massive lawsuit, they’re not stopping. Pocketpair has an uphill battle to beat Nintendo, which likely did not appreciate seeing the new update trailer. Palworld Feybreak shows that they aren’t going to pivot away out of fear of Nintendo. Of course, this update, since it’s coming out in less than two weeks, was probably mostly finished by the time the lawsuit really came down, but it’s nice to see the little indie developer refuse to back down.
In Conclusion
Palworld was one of the darling games of 2024. For a very long time, it was the most-talked-about game of the year. Its steam wore off, but at one point, everybody was playing it and loving it. Almost a year after its launch, the developers are attempting to prove that this game was not a flash in the pan. The free DLC is out on December 23.
