Palworld Launched for PlayStation 5

Palworld has lately been at the forefront of every discussion in the gaming world. People have mainly discussed the monumental lawsuit between Pocketpair, Nintendo, and The Pokémon Company. But now there’s a more positive reason to discuss the open-world action game. At the most recent State of Play, it was announced that Palworld would get its second console release and arrive on PlayStation 5. Here’s everything we know about the Palworld port.

While fans remain concerned about whether or not Palworld will remain available in game stores, Sony recently announced a PS5 port at this week’s State of Play. The announcement caught many fans off guard, as no one expected a port to be on its way amid Pocketpair’s legal battle with Nintendo. The action game is already available on PC and Xbox Series, though many fans have desperately wanted it to make its way to PlayStation for quite some time now.

It’s important to note that Palworld is liable to shut down should Nintendo win the lawsuit. While they haven’t made their intention clear should they reign victorious, that would be the logical possibility. It’s also unclear whether or not, if the game were removed from game stores, people who had already purchased it would retain access. Many things are up in the air, yet fans are still excited about the PS5 release. The game is available on PlayStation and was available for download immediately after the announcement.

Sony and Pocketpair

In July, Sony, Aniplex, and Pocketpair announced they were joining forces to create Palworld Entertainment. It’s unclear what the long-term plans are for this collaboration, but the statement on Sony’s website, referring to Palworld Entertainment as ‘JV,’ speaks of merchandise and things of that nature. “The JV will be responsible for developing the intellectual property’s reach and expanding commercial business endeavors, including the global licensing and merchandising activities associated with “Palworld,” outside of the interactive game,” the statement read.

While the statement only speaks of merchandising for the existing game, it’s unlikely that is the venture’s only intention. Its name, “Palworld Entertainment,” seems to imply an intention to create entertainment media surrounding Palworld. This would be interesting given how much Pals resemble Pokémon and could be part of why Nintendo chose to move forward with their lawsuit. This venture also explains the rumors that Sony and Aniplex are financially supporting Pocketpair as it fights Nintendo and The Pokémon Company’s joint lawsuit.

Final Thoughts

Despite Nintendo’s insistence on either gaining control over the beloved game or bringing it down, the fans of the game have spoken and seem to be winning as of right now. Getting a PS5 port means that Palworld is now available on most significant video game platforms, including PC and Xbox, and is available for streaming on Xbox Game Pass. As we keep our eyes on the outcome of the influential lawsuit, it’s essential to put the desires and enjoyment of the gamer at the forefront. Palworld has made an impression; no one can take that away from them.
