The developer of the cult classic game, Palworld, has been working to expand its reach over the last year. Pocketpair recently announced their next video game entry, and it is very different from Palworld. Pocketpair is aiming to help grow indie brands and companies, and the newly announced game is exactly that. The game, entitled Truckful, appears to be a unique spin on the car delivery adventure genre.
Pocketpair Opens Its Doors – And Its Wallet
In January, developer Pocketpair announced that it wanted to expand its portfolio. Specifically, the part of the company in charge of publishing was targeting opening their financial pocketbook to help support other games and companies. According to the publisher, their goal was to “provide comprehensive support for game development through funding and publishing for indie developers and studios.”
The goal was to help indie developers create and publish games through the combined access to ideas and resources. When the company announced its plans, the first venture was a partnership with Surgent Studios. The studio that developed Tales of Kenzera: ZAU approached Pocketpair to unite on a new horror game. The game itself has yet to be revealed by either company.
Pocketpair Funds New Game Truckful
Not much is known yet about the new game, but the publishing company has unveiled a little bit about the project. In a statement about the project, the publisher “provided the funding to help MythicOwl bring their dream game to life, and we’re proud to support them so even more players can enjoy this charming game,” and they are excited to show more. In their words, the game is “a gorgeous (and somewhat spooky?!) game about a little truck! The team is from Poland, and the moment I saw the pitch, I knew we had to help them out!”
Meanwhile, MysticOwl has described the game on its steam description, “Drive your pickup truck through seemingly peaceful countryside valleys, deliver much-needed goods to local townsfolk and unravel the small town mystery. Beware, the old forest is watching.” When adding in the trailer that looks beautiful and nostalgic and additional descriptions from the developer that include “Dredge on 4 wheels”, “Cozy horror delivery game,” and “Snowrunner in Massachusetts”, it is clear this game should be a unique and thoroughly enjoyable indie game.
Final Thoughts
As Pocketpair continues to grow, expect it to continue to branch out in its portfolio even further, supporting more indie developers to help their goals be achieved. If Truckful is successful, it will likely only lend more opportunity for other indie creators to grow. In the current gaming landscape, that will be critical to the success of the industry, with new and creative games that inspire the community and the players.
