With the launch of The Final Shape expansion in Destiny 2, Bungie moved away from the seasonal model and introduced the episodic model. Revenant is the second episode in the game and, like the previous episode, comprises three Acts. Act 2 of the episode is set to release on November 19, 2024. Bungie just did a livestream on Twitch going over everything that will be coming with the latest update, and there is a lot for players to enjoy.
Tomb of Elders
Act 2 of Revenant will be launched with a brand-new activity in Destiny 2. This activity is a reimagining of the Prison of Elders activity from the original Destiny game. Tomb of Elders is the new activity with a version called Contest of Elders. Tomb of Elders will be a much shorter matchmade activity, whereas Contest of Elders is based on several rounds. Each additional round will be more challenging and award players more loot.
This activity is similar to The Coil from Season of the Wish, which was enjoyed by players. There are a lot of roguelite mechanics involved in these activities, and Bungie emphasized that each run of Contest of Elders will feel different. There will be a brand-new set of modifiers, and there will be a mechanic called the Warden’s Judgment, which is a buff/debuff that is directly tied to the player’s performance.
New Weapons
Act 2 of Revenant will also be bringing players three weapons to the game for players to enjoy using. Two of these guns are brand-new seasonal weapons. They follow the theme of the Revenant weapons. The third weapon in the bunch is a reprised one from Season of the Splicer.
- Noxious Vetiver: This is a Precision Frame Submachine gun that has Arc affinity. It features a brand-new perk called Jolting Feedback.
- Scavenger’s Fate: This is a Precision Frame Shotgun that has Void affinity. Bungie mentioned that this archetype is popular in The Crucible, and this weapon has perk options, making it excel in the PvP sandbox.
- Gridskipper: It is a returning weapon and is a Rapid-Fire Pulse Rifle with Void affinity.
Noxious Vetiver and Scavenger’s Fate feature the Origin Trait called Dark Ether Reaper. This Origin Trait creates an Orb on getting kills with the weapon. Picking up the Orb will overflow the magazine of the weapon. Gridskipper will feature the Origin Trait called Splicer Surge. It allows the weapon to gain increased Handling and Reload Speed when reloading after damaging a combatant.
New Artifact Perks
Act 2 of Revenant will also be introducing a new row of Artifact Perks. These perks are similar to mods, and they influence the meta of a specific episode. The description of these new perks is given as:
- Authorized Mods: Melee: The armor energy cost of all armor mods affecting melee is significantly discounted.
- Emergency Flare: Emergency Reinforcement consumes all but one Armor Charge.
- The Thick of It: Rapid final blows when surrounded grants players Armor Charge.
- Curative Orbs: The first time you break a target’s shield or break the shield of a Guardian using their Super, you create an Orb of Power.
- Arc Compounding: Arc sources deal increased damage to targets affected by the Blind debuff.
Slayer’s Fang
Slayer’s Fang is a brand-new Exotic weapon that will be a part of an Exotic Mission. This mission will be released in Act 3 of Revenant, and so will be the weapon. However, during the livestream, Bungie already showcased some gameplay with the weapon. It will be an Exotic Shotgun that belongs to the Slug Frame. It fires a single slug shot that scatters into multiple shots whenever it comes into contact with other surfaces. Kills with this weapon also grant the player Truesight.
