Risk Of Rain 2 is a third-person rogue-lite shooter where you fight to escape a chaotic alien planet, fighting creatures along the way. In November 2023, Gearbox revealed the newest DLC, Seekers Of The Storm, will be implemented into the game later this month. It is confirmed to include two new Survivors, three new environments, a handful of new items, new achievements, a new Mythrix-level boss, and so much more.
Seeker Offers A Different Combat Style
A brand new Survivor, Seeker, is coming to Risk Of Rain 2 in ‘Seekers Of The Storm’. She is a mid-range support and damage dealer in one. Seeker’s kit is boosted by her special skill, Meditate, which explodes in a radius and provides Tranquility stacks. It also heals any allies caught in the blast, and once seven Tranquility stacks are acquired, Meditate can even revive fallen allies.
Seeker’s primary skill, Spirit Punch, is a three-punch combo move. The last punch explodes, and the damage increases based on how many Tranquility stacks you have. Her secondary skill, Unseen Hand, summons a debuffing hand from the ground. Seeker’s final skill, Sojourn, allows flight at the cost of health.
Fan-Favorite Chef Chops Into The Battlefield
Chef, another new Survivor dropping in this DLC, returns to the franchise in this update. Chef originally debuted in Risk Of Rain, the first game in the two-part franchise. Now he joins the Risk Of Rain 2 roster with unique abilities and unlockables. Chef’s primary skill, Dice, hurls two cleavers at enemies. Sear, his secondary skill, is a short-range flamethrower ability capable of massive damage.
Chef’s utility skill, Roll, is a wind-up mobility skill. The longer you charge it up, the faster and more damage you will do. His special skill named Glaze coats an enemy in oil. Chef’s passive skill suggests a multi-skill playstyle due to healing orbs dropping if an enemy is “perfectly prepared”.
Boss, New Levels, And Other Additions
In the leaked audio files, the False Son appears to be the third Survivor that Gearbox has teased to arrive in ‘Seekers Of The Storm’. However, a closer look at the mined data reveals that the False Son is also a Mythrix-style boss. Mythrix is the main final boss of Risk Of Rain 2. The previous DLC, ‘Survivors Of The Void’, also introduced a new Mythrix-level boss called the Voidling.
How to obtain the False Son is currently unknown. New monsters and levels are releasing soon in ‘Seekers Of The Storm’, along with a day-night cycle. The Shattered Abodes, a new environment in ‘Seekers Of The Storm’, showcases a beautiful- yet apocalyptic- landscape.
‘Seekers Of The Storm’ Release Date Revealed
‘Seekers Of The Storm’ will be Risk Of Rain 2’s second DLC. This will be the first DLC created solely by Gearbox since their purchase of the franchise, so to many fans, this serves as a test of what their direction with Risk Of Rain will be. Risk Of Rain 2’s ‘Survivors Of The Void’ set the stage for what DLC would look like in this sequel. The previous DLC was highly successful with 86% of reviews on Steam being positive. ‘Seekers Of The Storm’ will be available on all platforms for $15 on August 27, 2024, including PC, Consoles, and Switch. The base game, Risk Of Rain 2, costs $25 and is required to play the DLC.
