It is an incredible time to be a Marvel vs Capcom fan. The collection just came out, and it is pretty awesome. Newcomers and series veterans have been speaking very well on it. What’s even more exciting are the talks regarding the series’ future. Many fans have been speculating and putting their thinking caps on in regards to a Marvel vs Capcom 4, and what the roster should look like. Here are 6 characters that this game needs to have.
Leon Kennedy and Moon Knight
Leon Kennedy is arguably the face of Resident Evil, and he is yet to appear in a Marvel vs Capcom game. He would be a wonderful addition. Resident Evil 4 is easily the fan-favorite, and Leon’s personality and style from that game would do great in an MvC4. Leon could use his vast array of guns, grenades, and weapons to attack. He can also have fun quips and references to all the cheesy lines in his game. This version of Leon would ideally be based on the original RE4, but knowing Capcom, they would want to milk the new RE4 remake for all its worth. That would still be a great addition to this dream game though.
Marc Spector, also known as Moon Knight, is an incredibly underrated superhero from Marvel comics. He is more than just “Marvel’s Batman”. He has multiple personalities, and his modern comics explore this in a deep and compelling way. He also is an expert combatant, and brutal to boot. His enemies are actually scared of him in the comics due to how unpredictable and wild his fighting style is. Moon Knight would be an incredibly visually cool character, due to his supernatural nature, and all-white aesthetic. He would be such an interesting addition to the roster, it’s only a matter of time.
Nero and Daredevil
Marvel vs Capcom is no stranger to Devil May Cry characters, and newcomer Nero would be perfect. His appearance would be based on DMC 5, and he would have a plethora of moves and attacks, just like in his source material. The devs could give Nero a similar aesthetic to his father, Vergil, who appeared in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, quite infamously. Give Nero access to his devil trigger form, as well as his multiple robotic devil breakers. The amount of gameplay variety that could be up for grabs with this character is astounding. Nero would be a great fit for the series, especially due to his die-hard fanbase.
Matthew Murdock, or Daredevil, is another underrated Marvel character. He is not quite as unknown as Moon Knight, but he still doesn’t get the love he deserves. Daredevil is a blind superhero with enhanced senses, so he can really be a fast, and agile fighter. Seeing Daredevil bounce around the battlefield, boxing, and using his iconic billy clubs would be incredible. His design could be so comic-accurate as well, due to his iconic red suit. His personality would especially shine through in his fighting due to how fluid and agile he is, in and out of the costume.
Marvel vs Capcom 4’s Last Surprise Picks
Finally, the last two. Starting off with Capcom, Gene, from Godhand. What’s Godhand? One of the best games on the PS2, check it out if you haven’t already. Gene is a caricature of the masculine, video game character. He’s a badass goofball with a superpower, the Godhand. This pick is mostly here because this would be such a left-field, crazy character to include in a modern game. But this writer guarantees you that if Capcom included Gene, world peace would be achieved. He would be a great pick. His moves are so goofy and charming, that he would kill it with the old-school crowd.
Lastly, Green Goblin. Yes, this would be a villain pick, which isn’t the most popular, but this is arguably Spider-Man’s nemesis. Goblin would be a super interesting character. He can be both grounded and flying since he has a glider. He can have a really cool design, and use pumpkin bombs, blasters, and a wide array of gadgets. The variety that not only this character, but all of these guys would bring to the table would be incredible. This writer bets that whatever characters Capcom chooses to include in Marvel vs Capcom 4, they will be worthy picks.
