5 Most Hated Legend Of Zelda Characters (You Know Who)
In the long and illustrious franchise that is The Legend of Zelda, it should come as no shock to anybody that there are some more—let’s just say—detestable characters within the series. These characters have single-handedly made us players want to jump into the screen and literally strangle them just to save Link the trouble of trying to defeat them or interacting with them whatsoever.
We’re going to go over a few of them in this article! So let’s introduce five of the most hated characters within the Legend of Zelda series.
5. Navi – Ocarina of Time

While not the most hated and detestable characters in The Legend of Zelda series, Navi is one of the more… annoying characters you could possibly meet within the series. Navi is supposed to be your companion, sent out by the Great Deku Tree to help guide Link through his adventure—which is fine.
But, and this is a big BUT, we’re pretty sure that a lot of players still have dreams where they can hear Navi’s voice saying “Hey! Listen!” in order to get the player (aka Link’s) attention to make sure that the objective is fairly easily understandable. But that doesn’t stop players from mocking the little fairy—so much so that it became a meme in later years.
4. Ingo – Ocarina of Time

A man so up on his high horse that he didn’t know which way he was facing. He was once the ranch hand at Lon Lon Ranch in Ocarina of Time, but with the defeat of the Hylian royal family and Ganondorf’s rise in power, Ingo decides to show his true colors and side with the big bad.
He’s ultimately granted ownership of Lon Lon Ranch when Link is in his adult era. Only after being defeated by Link and Epona and their subsequent escape from the ranch does he turn over a new leaf and return to working under Talon.
3. Revali – Breath of the Wild

We never expected that a champion from Breath of the Wild would make it to this list, but there was something about Revali that just rubbed players the wrong way. It probably stems from the fact that the Rito champion was constantly belittling Link (golden boy that he is) and took every opportunity he could to show his superiority over the Hero of Legend.
Even when Link is trying to liberate Revali’s spirit from the Divine Beast, the champion is dismissive (if we’re trying to be nice about it), while making a jab at Link’s abilities to cover up for the fact that he is the one who lost the battle all those years ago.
Though players can learn about him and why Revali has these insecurities in the Champions’ Ballad DLC—so maybe not too much hate for this champion.
2. Vaati – Four Swords

The next one on this most-hated list is a bit of a trope, but it still works. Vaati is a Minish wind mage who became fascinated by the evil and darkness located in the hearts of humankind—not a particularly good hobby, as it led him into corruption (such is the downfall of many a mage).
By the time you meet Vaati in Four Swords, he’s so deep in his corruption that he’s an arrogant and merciless sorcerer who only craves more power and exerting his own demented will over the world.
1. Ghirahim – Skyward Sword

A character that makes your nose turn up just by looking at their picture (you probably just did it) deserves a number one spot on at least a few most-hated characters lists. For this list, it’s Ghirahim, and he delights in the pain and misery he causes others.
He’s blindly loyal to his master, Demise, and that loyalty has him relentlessly torment Zelda and Link. He becomes even more unhinged when his plans for our heroes don’t work—making him even more dangerous to everyone around him.
Need We Say More?
So this is a short list of some of the more hated characters in the Legend of Zelda series. They are the ones that made us roll our eyes, sneer, or scowl at whenever we play a Legend of Zelda game (Ingo being a personal hate for some)! Do you agree with what’s here?
Or is there another character more deserving of our collective player hatred?
