Diablo IV Announces Next Expansion in Lord of Hatred During The Game Awards 2025
The Game Awards has been a breeding ground for new game trailers, and Diablo IV has gotten a piece of the pie. During The Game Awards this year, Blizzard Entertainment dropped an exciting trailer for the new expansion to the titular game, Lord of Hatred, and it looks like we finally get to face the big bad: Mephisto. Here’s all that was revealed during The Game Awards.
Diablo IV Lord of Hatred Trailer Drops at The Game Awards
The Game Awards had the privilege of hosting the trailer for the new expansion in Diablo IV. This expansion is chock-full of new content, including the return of Mephisto, also known as Lord of Hatred, as well as the return of Lilith, the main antagonist of Diablo IV and the daughter of Mephisto.
The trailer also reveals the release of the much-requested Paladin class and as-yet-unannounced second character class. Pre-ordering Lord of Hatred grants you immediate access to the Paladin. In the last season, Vessel of Hatred, we see the resurrection of Mephisto, with Akarat acting as his vessel, and we finally get the continuation of this cliffhanger ending in Lord of Hatred.
The new expansion will also have the wanderer ally with Lilith, given that her last words of prophecy came true, and I’m not mad at that at all. We’ll need all the help we can get facing off against a now resurrected Mephisto. This could all lead to the conclusion of Diablo IV, and fans are hyped after experiencing the trailer during The Game Awards.
New Expansion Launches April 26, 2026
Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred is set to launch on April 26, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Battle.net. Lord of Hatred is also available to pre-order now, which will include early access to the Paladin class.
