The Fairy-type is one of the most powerful and influential typings in the Pokémon world, boasting an immunity to Dragon-type attacks and key resistances to Fighting, Bug, and Dark. In Pokémon Legends Z-A, these enchanting creatures are more formidable than ever, with several receiving game-changing Mega Evolutions. From special attacking powerhouses to unbreakable defensive walls, this tier list ranks all the confirmed Fairy-types from the top-tier S to the developmental D based on their combat prowess, stats, and overall utility.

S-Tier

This tier is home to the most dominant Fairy-types in the game. With incredible stats, exceptional typing, and devastating Mega Evolutions, these Pokémon are meta-defining forces.

  • Mega Gardevoir & Mega Diancie: These two are premier special attackers. Mega Gardevoir’s Pixilate ability turns Normal-type moves like Hyper Voice into powerful Fairy-type attacks, while Mega Diancie becomes a fast and frail cannon with sky-high offensive stats.
  • Mega Mawile: A perfect example of a game-changing Mega. Mega Mawile’s Huge Power ability doubles its Attack stat, turning it into a monstrous physical threat with a fantastic Steel/Fairy typing that grants it numerous resistances.
  • Mega Clefable & Mega Altaria: Both become incredibly well-rounded upon Mega Evolving. Mega Clefable gains a significant boost to its already solid stats, making it a versatile threat. Mega Altaria gains the Pixilate ability and a Dragon/Fairy typing, making it a bulky attacker that can hit from either the physical or special side.
  • Mega Meganium: This new Mega Evolution gives the Johto starter a new lease on life, granting it the Fairy typing and a substantial increase in bulk and Special Attack, turning it into a formidable tank.
  • Xerneas & Eternal Flower Floette: As a legendary Pokémon, Xerneas has immense base stats and a signature move, Geomancy, that raises its special stats and speed, making it nearly unstoppable. The unique Eternal Flower Floette boasts stats far superior to its normal counterpart and a devastating signature move, Light of Ruin.

A-Tier

A-Tier Pokémon are exceptionally strong and can easily serve as the cornerstone of a winning team. They are powerful, reliable, and just a small step below the sheer dominance of the S-Tier.

  • Gardevoir, Clefable, & Sylveon: This trio of pure Fairy-types is fantastic even without Mega Evolving. Gardevoir is a strong special attacker, Clefable is a versatile and bulky support Pokémon, and Sylveon is a special wall with access to Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice in other titles, which could make it a potent threat here.
  • Florges: With the highest Special Defense stat of all Fairy-types, Florges is an impenetrable special wall capable of absorbing hits from even the strongest special attackers.
  • Klefki: A small Pokémon with a huge impact. Its Steel/Fairy typing is one of the best in the game, and its Prankster ability gives it priority on status moves like Thunder Wave, allowing it to control the battlefield.

B-Tier

These Pokémon are solid, dependable choices that perform their roles well but have more noticeable flaws or are more specialized than the tiers above.

  • Mawile & Altaria: Both are very reliant on their Mega Evolutions to be truly threatening. In their base forms, their stats are mediocre, though Mawile’s typing and Altaria’s bulk give them some utility.
  • Aromatisse & Slurpuff: These Kalos natives have decent stats and can be effective with the right support, but they lack the raw power or overwhelming utility of the Pokémon in higher tiers.
  • Mega Audino: Upon Mega Evolving, Audino gains the Fairy type and becomes incredibly bulky. However, it is very passive and lacks offensive pressure, making it best suited for a dedicated support role.

C-Tier

This tier includes Pokémon that are usable in niche situations but are generally outclassed by stronger options. Many are middle-stage evolutions.

  • Carbink: Extremely high defensive stats are offset by very low HP and non-existent offensive stats. It can set up screens or hazards but does little else.
  • Dedenne: This Electric/Fairy-type is fast but very frail and lacks the power to be a significant offensive threat.
  • Audino, Kirlia, & Clefairy: These are either unevolved Pokémon or, in Audino’s case, a Pokémon with low stats that relies on its Mega to be effective. They are stepping stones to better forms.

D-Tier

This tier is composed of first-stage Pokémon that are not viable for combat. Their primary purpose is to be trained and evolved into their much more powerful later forms.

  • Ralts, Cleffa, Spritzee, Swirlix, & Flabébé: All of these Pokémon are at the beginning of their evolutionary lines. They are essential for completing the Pokédex but are far too weak for challenging battles and should be evolved as a priority.
