FF7 Remake’s God Mode Coming to All Platforms January 22
Final Fantasy 7 Remake will have a God Mode, which allows players to deal 9,999 damage per hit. This godlike feature is for all platforms, in celebration of FF7 Remake Intergrade arriving to Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2 on January 22, 2026. For PC and PlayStation 5 players, God Mode will arrive as a patch update. FF7 Remake Rebirth will arrive on Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.
Awesome! But What’s God Mode?
The first part of the FF7 Remake trilogy arrived on PS4 in 2020. FF7 Remake Intergrade improves the already breathtaking aesthetics and speeds up loading times. All platforms will receive Streamlined Progression, with the option to keep your MP and HP meters and ATB gauge at max and land 9,999 damage with every attack. Punching, shooting and slicing enemies has never been easier.
In this update, players can also increase the rate they earn experience points, earn unlimited gil (FF7’s currency), earn infinite recovery items and access more options aimed to make combat faster with little difficulty.
This update, titled Streamlined Progression, will let players approach the game as they see fit, specifically players who want to experience Intergrade’s story without going through the time-consuming process of character building and grinding enemy battles.
Why Is God Mode A Thing?
According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, who spoke with Inverse in 2025, he sees Streamlined Progression to be implemented in games and all forms of digital entertainment, as players wish to interact with content in their chosen style. He also said that time limitations often limit players from playing and enjoying a video game.
While FF7 Remake’s Streamlined Progression options offer more customization options than the difficulty options from most games, the concept is not completely unprecedented. For decades, games often added a “god mode” option, and remasters of older Final Fantasy titles often include menus to speed up gameplay, turn off random encounters, and essentially alter the game for a more story-focused gameplay.
Most players cannot agree on what’s considered an acceptable difficulty level, which is inevitable and tiring. Due to the lack of single solutions for every game and every player, Intergrade’s approach is neater than attempts to implement AI-generated assistants for gameplay hijacking or solutions that don’t allow players to accommodate their individual needs.
If you prefer to play Intergrade as it was originally made, you can play the default difficulty present in every version of the game. However, the story-focused God Mode is available too, especially for players who haven’t played the game in a while.
About Final Fantasy 7 and Its Remake

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is based on the 1997 PlayStation mega hit Final Fantasy VII. In this game, players play as blonde, belt-clad protagonist Cloud Strife, who forms a group of rebels to take down the Shinra Electric Power Company, a corporation using the planet’s lifestream, known as mako, to fuel the city of Midgar.
Among the very famous cast of characters are Aerith (also known as Aeris) Gainsborough, Tifa Lockheart, Barret Wallace, Zack Fair, Yuffie Kisaragi, and Vincent Valentine. Among the antagonists are white-haired Sephiroth; the Shinra Corporatio,n and Jenova.
Final Fantasy VII had a strong art direction, with Yoshitaka Amano as the logo designer; art director Yusuke Naora and Tetsuya Nomura as the designer for the main characters. Nobuo Uematsu composed the game’s soundtrack, and many consider the song “One Winged Angel” to be his magnum opus.
After the game’s initial launch, the game received very positive reviews from many gaming news outlets at the time. It received perfect or near-perfect scores from PC Gamer, Famitsu, Game Informer, IGN, GameSpot and the Official PlayStation Magazines for both the U.S. and Australia.
