S-Tier
This tier is reserved for the absolute titans of the Fighting type. With game-changing Mega Evolutions and incredible stats, these Pokémon are premier physical threats capable of dominating nearly any opponent.
- Mega Lucario: A perfect blend of speed and power, Mega Lucario is a phenomenal mixed attacker. Its Adaptability ability boosts its STAB moves, making Aura Sphere and Close Combat devastatingly powerful.
- Mega Chesnaught: The Kalos starter transforms into an impenetrable fortress. Its already solid defense skyrockets, making it one of the best physical walls in the game, capable of absorbing massive damage while retaliating with powerful attacks.
- Mega Hawlucha: This Mega Evolution enhances Hawlucha’s already impressive Speed and Attack, turning it into a fearsome aerial ace. Its unique Fighting/Flying typing provides excellent offensive coverage.
- Mega Gallade, Mega Heracross, Mega Barbaracle & Mega Emboar: This group of Megas brings overwhelming offensive force. Mega Gallade is a fast physical sweeper, Mega Heracross becomes one of the strongest physical attackers in the game, Mega Barbaracle gains a potent Rock/Fighting typing, and Mega Emboar becomes a bulky, hard-hitting brawler.
A-Tier
A-Tier Pokémon are top-class fighters that can easily carry a team. They are incredibly effective and fall just short of the sheer dominance of the S-Tier.
- Lucario: Even without its Mega form, Lucario is a fantastic and versatile attacker with a great Steel/Fighting typing that grants it numerous resistances.
- Chesnaught & Hawlucha: Both are formidable in their base forms. Chesnaught is an excellent defensive tank, while Hawlucha’s high speed and attack make it a potent offensive threat.
- Gallade: With a high Attack stat and a solid Psychic/Fighting typing, Gallade is a reliable physical attacker with a wide movepool for great coverage.
B-Tier
Solid and dependable, these Pokémon are strong choices that can fill crucial roles on your team. They are effective fighters, though they may be outclassed by the tiers above.
- Heracross: A powerful physical attacker with a great Bug/Fighting typing. Its high Attack stat makes it a significant threat, though it has a 4x weakness to Flying-type moves.
- Machamp: The original four-armed champion, Machamp is a pure physical powerhouse with a massive Attack stat. Its low speed is its main drawback, but anything it hits will feel the pain.
- Emboar & Pangoro: Both are slow but powerful physical brawlers. Emboar’s Fire/Fighting typing gives it good coverage, while Pangoro’s unique Dark/Fighting combination can be very effective.
- Scrafty: Possessing good defensive stats and a respectable Attack, this Dark/Fighting Pokémon can be a durable and annoying opponent.
C-Tier
This tier includes Pokémon that are either situational or simply outclassed by stronger options. Many are middle-stage evolutions that have yet to reach their peak.
- Mega Falinks & Mega Medicham: While they gain a boost from Mega Evolution, their base stats hold them back compared to other Megas. Mega Falinks is creative but statistically underwhelming, and Mega Medicham loses its Pure Power ability, which is the source of its strength in other games.
- Falinks & Medicham: Falinks is a unique pure Fighting-type, but its stats are average. Medicham relies heavily on its ability to be effective, which limits its utility in Legends Z-A.
- Pignite & Machoke: As middle-stage evolutions, they are serviceable during a playthrough but should be evolved to unlock their full potential.
D-Tier
This tier consists of first-stage Pokémon that are not suited for difficult battles. Their primary value is their potential to evolve into the much stronger Pokémon in the higher tiers.
- Riolu, Machop, Pancham, Scraggy, Meditite, & Chespin: All of these Pokémon are at the beginning of their evolutionary lines. They are essential for completing your Pokédex but need to be trained and evolved before they can contribute meaningfully in combat.
