Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade Creates a Story For Everyone, Finally
Square Enix has officially announced a release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X, with the PC version arriving simultaneously through Xbox. Beginning on January 22, 2026, the expanded remake will launch on these new platforms. Furthermore, the company confirmed that the entire trilogy will also be coming to both Switch 2 and Xbox systems. That said, can these new platforms handle the epic scale of the entire saga?

Final Fantasy 7 Masterpiece Gets a New Home
Alongside Intergrade, the epic trilogy will include Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the still-in-development third game. Until then, however, fans will have to settle for watching a new cinematic trailer that celebrates the announcement to hold them over. Judging actual in-game performance from a pre-rendered video has always been difficult. However, the trailer does a good job of presenting a very compelling visual showcase for the upcoming remake.
As an upgraded package, this version of the game includes the original 2020 RPG and the Intermission story DLC, introducing the popular character Yuffie Kisaragi. Not only that, but Integrade incorporates several gameplay enhancements, like a photo mode and additional combat options. The sequel, Rebirth, continues the story directly from where the remake concluded. Moreover, it pushes the narrative beyond the city of Midgar into a huge open world.

The Best Way to Fight Sephiroth
Additionally, the game refines the unique hybrid combat system that blends real-time action with strategic command-based inputs. Notably, both Rebirth and Integrade have been celebrated as fantastic action-RPGs for their complex characters, emotionally powerful stories, and richly detailed worlds. Yet, some players have expressed dislike for their combat systems. Will the new platforms offer performance modes to cater to different playstyles?
Integrade‘s major new feature is the introduction of a “Streamlined Progression” setting. This mode essentially functions as a god mode by granting players unlimited HP, MP, Limit breaks, and ATB gauges while also making every attack deal 9999 damage. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has stated that this option is designed for players who wish to focus exclusively on the game’s deep narrative without being challenged by the combat. Although the story is a central pillar of the experience, this setting allows a more casual approach to the battles and exploration. Ultimately, this new accessibility feature indicates a broader trend in how major RPGs are designed.
