Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3’s Voice Acting Already in the Works?
Frantically sniffing around the internet like a bloodhound has become something of a compulsion for Final Fantasy 7 fans since the announcement of the initial remake in 2015. With the release of Rebirth for Windows in January 2025, it seemed unlikely that we would be thrown another developmental bone for part 3 any time soon. Thankfully, this is where Cody Christian, the voice of our beloved Cloud Strife, comes in with an Instagram post implying that voice acting work for the next heavily anticipated installment has already begun.
Looking for a Cloudy Forecast

The hype is real. Though the post is no longer available on Instagram, X user Kevin Cabeza pulled a spectacular pro-gaming move and copied the post to his X account so it wasn’t lost in the proverbial ether. The post featured Christian clearly seated in a recording booth with a quoted caption stating: “so happy to be back with my bestie”. Atop that quote stood a drawing of Cloud wielding his beloved Buster Sword in all his mercenary glory.
Christian picked up the lead role for the franchise with the much-awaited first installment, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, back in 2020. Since then, he has been featured in both the 2022 release of Crisis Core and the 2024 release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Truly, Christian has built up a special relationship with this cherished character.
Voice acting is typically a late game production due to the various trials and tribulations that crop up with animation and storytelling. Though Christian’s tantalising hint is by no means an allusion to a release date for part 3, it does carry the weight of giving fans hope that everything is on track.
Clear Skies Over Midgar
For once, that hope is supported. Naoki Hamaguchi, Final Fantasy 7’s director, told Famitsu that development was going very well. Tetsuya Nomura, the project’s creative director, was given the intimidating task of giving the story a conclusion that honored the original 1997 masterpiece as well as bringing in a new sense of satisfaction to the franchise. Nomura has, apparently, managed to pull off a spectacular Limit Break and has completed this mammoth undertaking as of late 2024.
With everything running smoothly, and with the indication from Square Enix that they would like to keep to the previously established pattern of releasing one glorious remake every three years or so, fans could be seeing the drop of part 3 sometime in 2027-2028 across multiple gaming platforms. You can rest easy, PC gamers, you won’t be missing out on the cinematic conclusion this time!
That Which Lies Ahead…
Though there is still no official release date for Final Fantasy 7 part 3, it is exciting to speculate that, with voice acting in the works, everything is currently full steam ahead for a release sometime in 2027-2028. Fans can look forward to further wonderful performances from Cody Christian, who seems excited and eager to retake his role as the infamous hack and slasher, Cloud Strife. For now, then, the bloodhounds are satisfied.
