Final Fantasy VII Remake Fans Rejoice! Game 3’s Gameplay “More or Less Complete”
The Final Fantasy VII remake has expanded the game into a mighty trilogy. The first two games, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, have garnered critical success, though the second game performed under expectations commercially. The third game is still a mystery, but the latest news indicates that a large portion of it might be completed.
The Final Fantasy VII Remake Interview
In a YouTube interview with Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of the third Final Fantasy VII Remake game, Hamaguchi discussed the development of the third game. A translation on X stated the following:
“Naoki Hamaguchi says the game experience of Part 3 of the FF7 Remake Trilogy is more or less complete!
He says they are now in the phase of thoroughly developing it and he feels very confident about the game. He wants people to play it as soon as possible but they have to complete the full development first.
He hopes people can wait a little longer and they are almost at a point where they can share some more information about it so please look forward to it.”
That’s Cool, So When Do We Get a Release Date?
It might be some time before we have a release date. Given that Hamaguchi apparently wants to “complete the full development first,” this could be a sign that the game will not be rushed to meet a certain deadline. One the one hand, that means a lot of waiting, but on the other hand, that probably means that we will get a polished game when it does get released.
In the meantime, Nintendo Switch 2 owners can look forward to the remastered version of the first Final Fantasy VII Remake game, Intergrade, on the Switch 2, coming out on January 22, 2026. This means that Nintendo console owners can finally experience the remake for themselves, and hopefully Rebirth will come to the Switch 2 soon afterwards.
Can I Play the Original Version of Final Fantasy VII?
The original version of Final Fantasy VII is currently available on Steam and for Playstation 4 and 5, XBox One/Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. As such, there are plenty of ways that you can play the original game and prepare yourself for the final chapter in the Final Fantasy VII remake. The third game is sure to be a grand finale to this amazing trilogy – or if it isn’t, Square Enix risks the wrath of millions of fans.
