Moon Goddess, Columbina Hyposelenia, Returns of the Skies of Genshin Impact
Genshin’s newest “Archon” has arrived. The Moon Goddess, Columbina Hyposelenia, formerly 3rd of the Fatui Harbingers, descends from on high to grace the world of Teyvet with serene presence. As the god of Nod Krai, Columbina, like those who came before her, is an excellent catalyst for the region’s special mechanic, in this case, Lunar-reactions. Since all of them require Hydro, that’s not exactly surprising.
How Does Columbina Work
Columbina is a 5-Star Hydro Catalyst-user who specializes in dealing Lunar-reaction based damage. She can be played as either On-Field or Off-Field DPS. Her main damage Stat is HP.
From a Ripple, a Tidal Wave is Born
Columbina’s Skill creates a Gravity Ripple that follows the active character and continuously deals AoE Hydro DMG. It has a duration of 25 seconds and a CD of 17 seconds, so you can keep it active permanently. If the team is in the Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam state, the Gravity Ripple will deal damage over a wider area.
While the Gravity Ripple is active, when party members trigger Lunar-reactions, Columbina will gain stacks of Gravity. Once she has 60 stacks, she will unleash a Gravity Interference that deals damage to enemies. The damage of this Interference is based on the type of Lunar-reaction that accumulated the most Gravity. So, if more Lunar-Charged reactions were triggered than Lunar-Blooms, the Gravity Interference will deal Lunar-Charged DMG.
Both the Lunar-Charged and Lunar-Crystallize Gravity Interferences deal a single instance of damage, while the Lunar-Bloom version deals 5 individual hits.
Power Rising with the Moon
With the exception of her Utility Passive, all of Columbina’s other abilities enhance her damage in some way. Her Burst deals a single instance of damage and creates a Lunar Domain over a wide area (about the size of Nahina’s Burst). While within this Domain, all Lunar-reaction DMG is increased.
Her first Passive increases her CRIT Rate by 5% whenever a Gravity Interference is triggered. This can stack up to 3 times, and the stacks last 10 seconds. That’s a max bonus of 15% CRIT Rate.
Her second passive affects the Lunar-reactions triggered by characters within the Lunar Domain. When the Thundercloud created by the Lunar-Charged reaction unleashes a lightning strike, it has a 33% chance to unleash an additional lightning strike. When Lunar-Bloom is triggered, the party will gain Moonridge Dew. Up to 3 Moonridge Dews can be gained every 18 seconds, and they can be used instead of Verdant Dew. And, finally, when the Moondrift Harmony effect is triggered from Lunar-Crystallize, there will be a 33% chance to inflict an extra attack.
As for Colubmina’s Nod Krai passive, it does the customary transform reactions into Lunar-reactions stuff that all Nod Krai characters seem to have. Additionally, it increases the damage of Lunar-reactions based on Columbina’s Max HP. She will need 35,000 HP to get the full effect.
Additional Information
Columbina’s Utility Passive allows her to resurrect any character who dies while in Nod Krai. This effect doesn’t work while inside Domains or Spiral Abyss and can only happen once every 100 seconds. The HP recovered during resurrection is based on Columbina’s Friendship level. Additionally, similar to Lauma, Columbina seems to have a special affinity for animals that are influenced by kuuvahki.
Finally, whenever the party has Verdant Dew (or Moonridge Dew), she can perform a Special Charged Attack. Instead of consuming Stamina, it will consume 1 Verdant or Moonridge Dew to deal 3 instances of AoE Dendro DMG, which is considered to be Lunar-Bloom DMG. That’s right, the Hydro character can deal Dendro DMG.
What to Build on Columbina
If you plan on using her Off-Field, go for the Aubade of Morningstar and Moon set. If, instead, you intend to use her as On-Field Main DPS, go for the Silken Moon’s Serenade.
You need to get her HP to 35,000. If you can do so without needing an HP Main Stat, then go with double EM. If not, HP and EM. Her Hat should be CRIT DMG. As for Sub Stats, CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, Energy Recharge, and EM as needed.
Her best weapon is her own, of course, but if you are looking for other options, try A Thousand Floating Dreams or Nightweaver’s Looking Glass (though this one is more niche) for a 5-Star option. As 4-Star options, go for Dawning Frost or Mappa Mare.
Who Synergizes with Columbina
All Nod Krai characters, so far, work well with Columbina. If you have Lauma, you can also use her with Nilou (technically, you can bring Aino, but Lauma works better). If you use her with Nilou, Columbina can act as the Main DPS thanks to her Special Charged Attack. Basically, you just want to make sure you have 2 Nod Krai units and create a team that triggers as many Lunar-reactions as possible.
