Normal-Type Pokémon Tier List for Pokémon Legends Z-A
Normal-type Pokémon are often underestimated, but their strength lies in their versatility and minimal weaknesses. With only one vulnerability (Fighting) and an immunity to Ghost-type attacks, Normal-types can be surprisingly sturdy team members. In Pokémon Legends Z-A, the return of Mega Evolutions gives many of these classic Pokémon a massive power boost, turning them into top-tier threats. This list will rank the confirmed Normal-types from S to D based on their stats, Mega potential, and overall utility in battle.

S-Tier
The cream of the crop. These Pokémon possess overwhelming power through their Mega Evolutions, making them some of the most formidable combatants in the game.
- Mega Kangaskhan: An absolute powerhouse. Mega Kangaskhan was so dominant in its original appearance that it shaped the entire competitive landscape. Its Parental Bond ability allows it to hit twice, making it a terrifyingly strong physical attacker with a surprisingly diverse movepool.
- Mega Lopunny: Upon Mega Evolving, Lopunny gains the Fighting type and a massive boost to its Attack and Speed. It becomes a lightning-fast physical sweeper capable of breaking through common defensive Pokémon with ease.
- Mega Pidgeot: This Mega Evolution turns the humble Pidgeot into a fearsome special attacker. With a huge boost to its Special Attack and the No Guard ability ensuring its moves like Hurricane always hit, it becomes a consistent and powerful threat.
- Mega Pyroar & Mega Drampa: This pair of newly introduced Megas brings serious firepower. Mega Pyroar gets a significant boost to its already solid Special Attack and Speed, while Mega Drampa’s incredible Special Attack becomes even more potent, allowing it to function as a slow but devastating wall-breaker.
A-Tier
These Pokémon are exceptionally strong and can serve as the cornerstone of many teams. They are powerful and reliable, falling just short of the raw power of the S-Tier.
- Pidgeot & Lopunny: Even without their Mega stones, these two are highly effective. Pidgeot is a speedy Flying-type, and Lopunny can still function as a fast and disruptive member of the team.
- Drampa: With a massive base 135 Special Attack, Drampa is a premier special attacker. While slow, its Normal/Dragon typing gives it good resistances, and it can absorb hits while dishing out incredible damage.
- Mega Audino: A fantastic defensive pivot and supporter. Mega Audino gains the Fairy type and becomes incredibly bulky. It can support its team with healing moves while absorbing special attacks with ease.
B-Tier
Solid and dependable choices that perform their roles well. They may have some notable flaws but are more than capable of holding their own in most battles.
- Kangaskhan & Pyroar: In their base forms, both are respectable threats. Kangaskhan is a bulky physical attacker, and Pyroar is a fast special attacker with a useful Fire/Normal typing.
- Diggersby: Its Normal/Ground typing is unique and gives it an immunity to Electric and Ghost-type attacks. With a high Attack stat, it can be a surprisingly effective physical attacker.
- Heliolisk: A fast special attacker with a rare Electric/Normal typing. It has access to powerful moves and can out-speed many opponents, though it is quite frail.
C-Tier
This tier includes Pokémon that are usable but are generally outclassed by the options above. They can fill a niche on a team but often struggle against tougher opponents.
- Audino: A decent defensive Pokémon with high HP, but it lacks offensive presence and is mostly relegated to a supporting role, which is less effective in the fast-paced battles of Legends Z-A.
- Furfrou & Watchog: Both have mediocre, unspecialized stats that prevent them from excelling in any particular role. They are serviceable for a playthrough but are not recommended for competitive battles.
D-Tier
This tier is composed of unevolved or very weak Pokémon that are not suitable for challenging fights. Their primary value lies in their potential to evolve into the much stronger Pokémon in the higher tiers.
- Eevee & Buneary: Eevee’s strength is in its many non-Normal type evolutions. Buneary is a weak first-stage Pokémon that needs to evolve into Lopunny to become viable.
- Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Patrat, Litleo, Bunnelby, Helioptile, Swablu, & Fletchling: These are all first or second-stage Pokémon. They should be evolved as quickly as possible, as they are far too weak to contribute meaningfully in difficult encounters. Many also lose their Normal typing upon final evolution.
