The Undertaker Remembrance Quest – Uncover the Fragmented Past of One of Forsaken’s Nightfarer

So, you’ve decided to dive into the murky past of Elden Ring Nightreign’s resident goth, the Undertaker. Brace yourselves because this side quest is a deep, dark journey into what makes this mysterious Nightfarer tick. This guide will take you through the three trials of the Undertaker’s Remembrance quest line in the Forsaken Hollows DLC.

Come Forth, Undertaker!

The Undertaker is an interesting character in Elden Ring Nightreign. She may look like a standard goth merchant, but there is a world of power that she possesses. With strong combat skills and damage-triggered special attacks, the Undertaker is a force to be reckoned with. The addition from the Forsaken Hollows DLC allows fans to take a glimpse into this mysterious woman’s past.

The Remembrance quests in Nightreign are unique side stories that let you relive key moments from each Nightfarer’s past. For the Undertaker, this means confronting old ghosts and uncovering the secrets buried deep within. By completing this quest line, players can unlock essential and seriously cool rewards such as powerful relics and a slick new outfit.

The Three Labors of the Undertaker’s Remembrance Quest

When you unlock the Undertaker after completing the Tricephalos Expedition, go about expeditions to build her skills and stats. Keep going until you unlock Chapter 3 of her journal, and then you will be able to begin the Undertaker’s Rememberance Quest.

The First: One Dysfunctional Family Brawl, Coming Up!!!

Once you’ve unlocked Journal Chapter 3, your first Remembrance quest pits you against your fellow Nightfarers for an all-out ballroom blitz. The fights will come in waves, and each will need a certain attack to knock them on their butts. Your prize for beating up your friends is the Leather Monocle Case, a useful and very dapper Remembrance Relic.

  1. First up! The Executor is a warm-up fighter with a pesky counter-stance. Nothing that a few jump attacks can’t handle
  2. Guardian and Recluse get tapped in next as a tag team. For these two, it’s best to take them both out with your Ultimate Art. Got after Recluse, and when you slice through her, you will get a two-for-one combo takeout.
  3. Third up is Wylder, who is pretty much Executor with a shield. He can parry your attack, so keep an eye out when he has his shield up to counter.
  4. Last but certainly not least, Raider and Ironeye. Now, Raider is the real opponent, while Ironeye swoops in to kick you when you’re down. Lure Raider away from Ironeye and take him out first one-on-one. Then, facing Ironeye is easy pickings. Back him into a corner, and he’s done for.

The Second: Where, Oh Where Did My Scholar Go? Where, Oh Where Can He Be?!?

Once you leave the Nightfarers shindig, you’re going to continue leveling up on expeditions to unlock Chapter 5 in the journal. This second remembrance quest is a search-and-rescue sort of deal because the Scholar got himself lost in The Great Hollows. He was smart enough to mark his location on the designed map, but the journey ain’t for the faint of heart.

  1. Get some extra health. This isn’t a hike in the woods, and you don’t want to make the trip longer by repeatedly dying.
  2. Sprint to the Spirit Spring on the west side of the northern castle. You’ll need to do some precarious cliff-walking and dodge some angry crabs.
  3. Get ready to jump and spring yourself onto the balcony. When you land, head through and to the library (because where else is a man of knowledge going to be).
  4. When you see a hanging rock, scale up to the rafters and search for a hole in the wall.
  5. When you find it, crawl through and rescue the Scholar, who is suspended in a crystal.
  6. Interact with him to acquire the Scholar’s Primal Core.
  7. Whether you win or lose, finish the expedition, head back to the keep, and chat with the Scholar to complete this remembrance.

The Third Undertaker Remembrance: A Finger, a Corpse, and a Revelation

Now, the final remembrance quest is associated with beating a Night Aspect boss called Heolster the Nightlord. Pre-prep for this battle requires you to play as the Undertaker (obviously) and make sure your pouch has an empty slot for the post-battle reward. Heolster is going to be a long fight because this creature has two phases. Once you defeat the boss, you will be transported to an alternate version of the Roundtable Hold with a new item in your pouch called the Dismembered Finger.

THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT, CRITICAL STEP!!! When you enter the building and see a sitting withered corpse, DO NOT TOUCH IT YET!!! Approach the body, but then drop the Dismembered Finger in front of the body. The Undertaker will utter, “This will do… I’m sure,” giving you the go-ahead to touch the corpse. This will lead to a cutscene and the completion of the remembrance quest! When you reach the keep, you’ll be rewarded with a Glass Necklace relic, the Remembrance skin, and Journal Chapter 7.

To those who did not heed my warning! If you touch the corpse WITH the Dismembered Finger still on you, the expedition will come to an end, BUT the remembrance quest will remain incomplete. This will be a major setback! You will have to repeat the expedition all over again to get the remembrance quest requirement right. That is a major headache to do because of one detail, so please! Drop the finger!
