Breakout City-Builder, Manor Lords, Major Systems Overhaul After Slowed Updates

Manor Lords, the popular medieval city-builder, entered early access in April of 2024 to an incredible number of concurrent users on Steam. After receiving regular updates, the patch cycle slowed. But players of Manor Lords can rest easy because we have news!

Manor Lords Overhaul!

Greg StyczeÅ„, Manor Lords creator, shared the details of what has been happening behind the scenes in a post to Steam on July 3, 2025. He acknowledged the lack of updates recently, then went on to say that it has been due to the team working on overhauling many systems at the same time. That sounds like a lot of moving parts to coordinate! He said, “It’s a full rework of how things like buildings, production chains, and environmental interactions function.” So, that means holding off on any smaller changes to prevent breaking things along the way.

What’s Changing

While we don’t know everything that will be changing in this upcoming big update to Manor Lords, we do have some details from the blog post. It starts with the Affinity System. This affects how some buildings affect other buildings and how that affects placement. He also mentioned that some buildings will have the ability to buff the Affinities provided by other buildings. “For instance, having Apiaries can increase the existing effect that Pollination Orchards get from Meadows.”

New shop fronts and artisan workstations were also shared. Though it is noted that things could change since it’s still a work in progress. A new map design, which is divided by mountains, was shared, as well as experimentation with being able to see through fortifications. And they’re working on new designs for development perk cards.

When Will it Come?

Once the big overhaul is done, they plan to return to smaller updates that come out more often. A date for this big update has not been shared. But that’s not surprising since, as every gamer knows, these things take time, and the date would be certain to change. It’s better to have no date than to have an expectation that is sure to be missed.

StyczeÅ„ closed by saying, “As always, thanks for following and for all the support. Really appreciate the patience while we’ve been working through this big update. I’ll keep posting here as we get closer and share more along the way.” So keep an eye out for updates, and we’ll be watching too!
