The Sims 4 (sims 5)

The Sims 4: Sim Deaths And How To Cause Them, Part 2

In The Sims 4, the death of Sims can be tragic (or fun), depending on your play style. Either way, it’s a good idea to know all of the ways a Sim can meet the Grim Reaper. In part one of this series, we ran down all of the things that your Sim can die from in the base game. This time, we’re going to start with the first death mode added in a game pack through some very interesting and strange ways for Sims to become ghosts.

1. The Sims 4 Romantic Garden Stuff

It’s not at all romantic, but The Sims 4 added a new, and truly random, way for your Sim to die in the Romantic Garden Stuff. The Wishing Well object can grant wishes, but it also has moods of its own. The face on the Wishing Well gives you a clue to its mood, which could be happy, neutral, angry, or hooded. Wishing with low needs when the well’s face is hooded is the path to becoming a Ghost. A random death type will be applied to the Sim from the ones available in your game.

2. Death by Steam

If you have the Sims 4 Spa Day Game Pack, your Sim can experience the Sauna. It’s a great way to relax, but don’t leave them in there for too long. If they get the Superfluous Steaming moodlet, staying in the sauna can cause Death by Steam. Of course, if you want to cause that to happen intentionally, you can block the door so they can’t leave.

3. Risky Eating

You’d think The Sims 4 City Living would be dangerous for other reasons, but for a Sim, the danger is in the food stalls of the Spice Market. When the Spice Market is happening, send your Sim there and visit the Japanese food stall to order Pufferfish Nigiri. You can check the quality of the dish by hovering over it. Low-quality Pufferfish can cause death by poisoning. Of course, the food stall’s dish will likely be safe, but your Sim will learn to cook it after they’ve eaten it. Back at home, if they’re in a bad mood or have low Cooking skill, there is a higher possibility of creating a low-quality dish. Some occults are immune, including Mermaids, Aliens, and Vampires. And the robot Servos can’t die this way either.

4. Allergic to the Sun?

There’s one occult Sim that has a problem in the daytime, the Vampire. The Vampires game pack isn’t the most popular, but it added a lot of cool stuff. And, if you have the Sims 4 Vampires in your game, they’ll try to stay in the shadows. Sunlight depletes their Vampiric Energy and causes them to perish. Of course, only Vampires can die this way. And, you can give them immunity with the Perfect or Greater Sun Resistance effect.

5. More Deadly Weather

In Part 1, we talked about how your Sim can die from a meteorite. But if you have the Sims 4 Seasons Expansion Pack, there are three more ways your Sim can lose their life.

Temperature

The Sims 4 Seasons added hot-weather and cold-weather outfits. Sims will usually change to the correct outfit for the weather, which protects them. But you could tell your Sim to change into their hot-weather clothing (or swimwear) when they’re outside in the winter to cause death by freezing. The opposite works too. Change into cold-weather clothes in the summer, and they can die from overheating. They can even die inside their home in the summer. Place a thermostat object on a wall and turn it up to make it hot in the summer and… well, your Sim is going to bake.

Lightning

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that a Sim can be killed by lightning. If your Sim is outside during a thunderstorm, lightning could strike. Holding an umbrella increases their chances, but this one is random during a storm.

Flowers that Kill

You read that right. In The Sims 4, there’s a way flowers can cause a Sim to die (or save them, if we’re being honest). First, you need a Death Flower. The surest way to get one is by grafting a pomegranate to an orchid. They do turn up in other places too, depending on your expansions. If your Sim has level 9 in the Flower Arranging Skill, they can make a bouquet on the Flower Arranging table and scent it with the Death Flower. Gifting the bouquet to another Sim has potentially deadly effects. If the Sim is an Elder, they’ll meet the Reaper. At any other age, they’ll age up!

6. Jungle Poison

The Sims 4 Jungle Adventure Game Pack adds two ways for your Sim to become poisoned. Beware of spider bites and poison darts! Either will give your Sim the Dazed moodlet. That could fade on its own, but if it doesn’t, they’ll get more symptoms. Green patches appear on their skin, and they start belching. If you don’t want them to die, find an antidote quick! Use a computer to buy the antidote for 1000 simoleons, or, if you have bone dust, you can trade for it in Selvadorada at a market vendor.
