Gran Turismo 7’s Steady Updates Make the PS5 Unforgettable
Gran Turismo 7’s Power Pack DLC will launch on December 4, 2025, bringing 50 new races and 24-hour endurance races, as well as a new version of the game’s advanced AI racers called Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0. The new AI will be exclusive to the upcoming DLC, which will be exclusive to the PS5. The DLC will also come with 5 million in-game credits. It will be a paid add-on in the PlayStation store, but no price has been confirmed as of writing.
There’s More DLC
There will be free DLC in the form of the Spec III update, which was announced in September. The free update includes two tracks – Yas Marina Circuit and Circuit Gille-Villeneuve – eight new cars, a new opening movie, Dunlop tires and improvements to online races. The Spec III update will be available for all owners of Gran Turismo 7.
Gran Turismo 7 launched on March 4, 2022 for the PS4 and PS5. The game has sold over 100 million copies, and there’s a free-to-play version of Gran Turismo 7 called My First Gran Turismo, available for PS4 and PS5. Developer Polyphony Digital released the game to attract players of all ages and skill levels.
What’s Cool about Gran Turismo 7
Justin Towell of GamesRadar+ played GT7 after a while away from the game. He wrote, noting the attention to detail in the game,
“Gran Turismo is about the racing, of course it is, and the very precise mechanisms of driving a racing car on the ragged edge of adhesion. But it’s also about the things other games overlook when they’re trying to deliver the same fundamental experience. It’s about the reflections in the windscreen.”
Towell continued,
“The way your car’s shadow moves around you like a sundial as you navigate a hairpin high on a ridge with the setting sun behind you. It’s about the magic of blood red tail lights moving through the darkness ahead, and the snarl of engines on the start line.”
Towell gives his props to Kazunori Yamauchi and his team at Polyphony Digital for their understanding of what makes driving fun.
Gran Turismo 7, and the series as a whole, is a flagship game for the PlayStation 5. The franchise is without a doubt one of the best franchises out there, and the soundtracks are pretty good to listen to.
